  Half Life 2, chapter "don't go to Ravenholm" was one of the scariest parts of the game. Zombies everywhere, very limited ammo, the only thing that made it awesome was the crazy priest.
  
  Also this part. Only because its freaking dark as hell and your flashlight battery is terrible. Gotta light flares and burn zombies to be able to BARELY see anything.
  
  6:25, scariest and possibly one of the hardest parts of HL2, but also the most thrilling.

  I took the strategic method for this part. Set up ALL the explosives and flares. Did a L4D style defense by corner camping. Tossing each explosive or flare at once to set some fire and fix the vision. Its great fun.

  I wasn't paying attention in L4D once and I got pretty scared by a Common Infected that i walked into in an alley. ;~; T'was unexpected.

  L4D was only scary for the first few runs. Then the zombies just become a real joke. You even start playing around because of how much of a joke they are.
  
  And since any attack that is not on Expert mode pretty much can't hurt you bad enough, you really tend to start tanking it too.
  
  Besides. Zombies drop heavily in scare tier once you play something like Silent Hill. And Alma from FEAR is pretty damn hardcore too.

  I do really bad with zombies games, but only when I'm alone. I can't eveb touch my Deadrising CD for the wii, and the game is basically made for you to **** with the zombies...

  Resident evil is more scary than silent hill
  silent hill is just freaky scary
  but the newer games in both series severly dropped in fear factor
  
  Resident evil 5 isn't scary
  it's just too actiony.
  Chainsaw dude in 4 is scarier than 5.

  lame. and the human centipede too.

  Downloaded it and completed the campaign. It's extremely unlike the usual campaigns of Left 4 Dead 1, you're always out in the open(except for the Manor and Underground stage), and there are cliffs everywhere so Special Infected can sneak up on you easily from up there. It's extremely dark, to the point where the flashlight can only reveal so much. There's tons of useless Miniguns laying around in the campaign, exceeding up to 3-5 on the last stage on the way to the area where you get rescued. The stages are huge in themselves, and I thought the Manor crescendo was pretty creative, making you run it up to the top floor, then back down to the heli pad while fighting the Infected on the way there. The 2nd and 3rd Stages were like ladybrinths, the direct path was always split up into crossroads and more. This occurs too on the other stages, where you can take 2 paths so I guess you can replay the campaign with new things happening in your way for awhile. It was challenging, but fun. The horde limit number could have been increased however for more difficulty, but then it'd be more of an annoyance since you have to run quite a bit to get to the Saferoom.
  
  Oh, and there are Easter Eggs and references to many things. You can find a certain loveable creature in the Underground Stage...
