Correct me if i'm wrong.
Blue Upgrades increase your damage.
Red Upgrades increase your crit DAMAGE, not %.
So.. guide on which colors to put on.
Battle Swords: 1 blue 1 red. Why? You have high damage and you get a little boost from the red upgrade stones for crit damage.
Daggers: Reds all the way. CRIT is what makes daggers the ideal final hit weapons.
Broadswords: Red because broads have overall high crit %.
Gladius: I would suggest blue. Most gladius I see have 0%, which means they are upgraded for damage.
Dragon Fang: Blue. Dragon Fangs start out with high max damage and end that way, I believe.
Glory Sword: Red ..? They have high crit.. so I would assume it's red.
Francisca: Red. Idk. I see lots of franciscas in red.
Leave more or correct me if i'm wrong~

There's already a special upgrade guide.
If you're windmilling you should always choose red if you have the damage to back it up. For smash weapons, it's assumed that you will at least attempt to gain the crit neccasary to make smash usefull before trying to buy a lot of R-type upgrades.

Better yet, make both R-type and S-type weapon of the same kind. :)

Well it doesn't have to be instant. You can always work on it as a long term goal!

Apparently, for 2 hands, both red and blue don't upgrade.
I asked a nifty amount of people and that was the reply.
Though it's more often that you will see red for glory, blue for dragon.

What was meant was.
Make an R-type Glory Sword, then an S-type Glory Sword.
Then make an R-type dragon, then an S-type dragon.
Etc, etc.
