What makes madoka awesome?

It's not the first mahou shoujo series that tells a dark twisted tale, but it is the first one in a long time to do it and be well-known/well-received. It's a pretty solid show, kind of mocking the tropes of the genre during the first few episodes then seasoning them with blood and tears from the end of episode 3 onward. The ending is a bit disappointing, but given the genre (Madoka is STILL a magical girl series ultimately), it's still an appropriate ending.

This is what will happen. Watched the entire series last night, and didn't find it as "OMG best series ever" or even close to what the hype was about. From watching the series, I can see why people liked it, and it is a good series, and if I didn't run into people talking about the series everywhere I go, I probably would have enjoyed it a lot more, since then all the plot twists about what makes a Puella Magi would be a surprise and make me wonder how it's going to end. But alas, they call it spoilers for a reason, so I didn't enjoy it in what it should have been.

I would still recommend it, just tell people not to expect a super amazing show, if they now anything about the plot what so ever aside from it's a magical girl genre anime.

#1 It's a SHAFT anime. Top animation. Especially the battle scenes in the other world
#2 Looks like an innocent magical-girl anime, but later episodes shows that it is more than that
#3 Episode 10. This episode sums the whole anime up and does it well. You'll change your view on the anime after you see it

I tried watching it but it was just too painfully boring. My friend loved it apparently, though. But yeah I'm not going to spend an hour and a half to see if I like it or not.

it's possible, yes, to find madoka "boring" prior to the end of episode 3

but this is more an argument for not dropping shows too early than madoka's overall quality
