If the company and lawyer mean serious business I doubt they'll want to play Notch's little game. He's just going to make himself look like an ass when reality slaps him in the ass. Larger Companies DO NOT play nice.
Notch is not an idiot. The man is clever, and this little challenge has more hidden substance to it than you could possibly expect. If notch truly meant this challenge as nothing more than a challenge to settle a dispute, he wouldnt have made this challenge a public one.
This deosnt make him an attention fag. What it accomplishes:
Feeds fire to the lawsuit. Its exactly what he needs right now. Being sued over the name Scrolls for a video game is downright outrageous, and the more people know about it, the better for him and worse for bethesda.
Brings the media to its attention. He's getting FAR more free advertisement for his upcoming project than he would ever ask for. Before this entire issue was addressed, most people didnt even know notch was up to anything other than minecraft.
Game companies need to relate to the players. While seemingly insignificant, game producers need to show that they too are gamers in the end. Turning down this challenge will not look good on bethesda's part, ESPECIALLY when we're mostly in agreement that this entire lawsuit is silly to begin with.
Think notch didnt have a plan when making this announcement? Whether besthesda accepts his proposal or not, he's already won more out of this entire debacle than he needed to. This turn of events is nothing but helpful to him.
Well I don't know then. I don't play Minecraft and I have my reservations about Notch just like the Cat does. I don't really know how I feel about him but I sure as hell don't really trust him.
Frankly I don't play Elder Scrolls so I don't care about the other company really.
I don't care in general who wins. I think the whole thing is stupid. I find the idea of settling lawsuits with games to be just as stupid as lawsuits themselves.
