I like it even though I've never even equipped a lance. The wide WM range is quite useful for taking out additional dopplers it seems.

Yes it simplifies the boss very much.
With regular melee weapons, you would already have smashed loaded like with the lance but you would not be able to smash almost immediately. You'd have to chase after it, and it opens you to be attacked.

That's a good demonstration.
This is just me, but I think you can squeeze in two Smashes before a Windmill if time isn't wasted.

I think the AI was slowing up today so I probably could have, but I'm not sure it could be on regular speedy AI.
