Can you use the Pelican in ANY part of Errin? Or just Iria?
Does it seat 2?

So Iria, Silab Cuilin, Abb Neagh, Taillteann, Corrib Valley, Tara and Blago Prairie. The Abb Neagh Residential Area and the Abb Neagh Castle were also added after G9 but I'm pretty sure they remain un-flyable, although I have never tried so I may be mistaken.

That includes Taillteann, Tara, Corrib Valley, Blago Prairie, Abb Neagh, and I believe Sliab Cuilin.
(These are all in Uladh)

Yeah Sliab Cuilin is flyable. But the Abb Neagh housing and castle area aren't.

So basically, EVERYWHERE, except housing channel and...?

Cynic wrote on 2011-09-03 20:16
Nope, not everywhere. The rest of Uladh is off limits.

Screw it, horses are more simple and cheaper. :D

Flying mounts do come in handy later on, but yeah-- they're not as necessary as horses, imo.

Actually, I'd get an oak broom. Fast on land AND air. Flying mounts aren't as complicated as you think. :x

If you know the areas you want to fly in and all, they're not hard to figure out. Just press V to try to take off, and if it gives you the message it is an un-flyable area (Hopefully knowing that you're not in a shaded zone of the map), then you can just hop onto your horse.
In my opinion, they're mostly useful for Exploration Quest completion in any region in Iria, and from G9~G12, if you haven't already finished those. One horse and a flying mount is pretty much all you need thus far. :x
Pelicans seat 2, and Eagles seat 1. The Pelican is cheaper though, but slower travel even if you are alone on it.

But if you always need a trusty companion that's cheap and can provide mounting, go with the Eagle. Fast in air, you probably won't always be travelling on land with a flying mount, and quite strong if you train it right.

Though I am repeating a little to what the above posts said, I might as well put everything in one post to prevent some confusion.
Areas flying mounts can fly in at all:
- Rano
- Connous
- Physis
- Courcle
- Zardine
- Sliab Cuilin
- Abb Neagh
- Taillteann
- Corrib Valley
- Blago Prairie
- Tara
Do note that some parts within the following areas do have places where you can fly through, but can't take off or land like the river metallurgy site in Courcle and Berched's house in Taillteann to name a couple. I do say though that some older areas where flying mounts aren't allowed to take off could use it like Dugald Aisle and Sen Mag Plateau. Don't think it'd be too game breaking.
Yes, the pelican can seat 2 riders, however there are restrictions. You cannot pick up any giants due to the pelican being "too small" for the giant. The only way a giant can ride a pelican is if that giant summons their own (Most/All pets that mount are re-sized to accommodate giants.), however, even a pelican sized for giants cannot carry another giant as an escort. If you are planning on getting a 2-seater flying mount pet just for riding and not for combat, I recommend a magic carpet: same price, same inventory size, only 1 minute less summoning time, faster on land (In-between black cotton ostrich and shire's compared to pelican's slightly faster than elf.) while maintaining the same air speed as that of the pelican, and can even seat 2 giants at the same time. If I didn't have a pelican, I would've gotten a carpet instead[S], then again I bought my pelican before carpets came out here, and there's also the pelican's cuteness factor[/S].

If you're going to do any giant or elf quests, I would highly suggest you get a flying mount.
Also if you're gonna do any exploration...which I would highly suggest.
