There is no proof that a god exists - So I will not believe that there is one.
There is no proof that a god does not exist - So I will not believe that there is not one.
I will believe something without proof if there is sufficient evidence that suggests it may be true - I believe the universe is 13.7 billion years old. I believe that the Earth is 4.6 billion years old. I believe in evolution.
I do not deny that that Jesus was an actual man that actually existed. I even believe it to be true. I however doubt that he performed 'miracles' or whatever you'd like to call them - History has tended to make things sound grander than they really were, in addition that there is plenty of evidence that 'magic' is not possible - I doubt that if such things were possible, that nothing like it would have happened in over 2000 years.
I refuse to believe in 'morals' that prevent you from doing something that does not harm another person(Except with consent, if they give consent for whatever reason, then I guess it's okay) either emotionally, mentally, or physically - Abortion is not wrong to me: It is not murder to me. The baby cannot think, it cannot act for its own(Kicking is not a good argument, for all we know, it could just be spasms), and to me, is not a whole being. Abortion, to me, is like getting rid of an organ. - Homosexuality to me is not wrong: There is absolutely nothing about it that hurts ANYONE in ANY way. It is a choice that people should be welcome to make. Laws shouldn't be made to oppress such a decision, and arguments like "It's not natural! They can't reproduce!" are idiotic because, LOOK AROUND YOU. Computers are not natural. Neither are TVs, town halls, countries, nuclear warheads, maps, boats, cars, balloons, gasoline, pizza, education, satellites, cell phones, statues, roller coasters, paper, electrical circuits, Monopoly, lunar rovers, rockets, chairs, and millions more things extremely too numerous to mention them all, and you'd be an idiot for saying they were natural. If humans were meant for anything, then it's 'going against what's natural'. You want to know what is natural? Murder, stealing, and for some things, RAPE, and I'm fairly certain most, if not all of us, think all of those things are wrong. - I also believe that masturbation is not wrong whatsoever, but to make the mods happy, I won't talk about that one. - There are also other morals I disregard, but I'll just not talk about them.

Did you just read that until you could find ONE thing to argue with and then not read the rest?

Because Bean Rua is clearly the best place for a serious discussion.

I read all of your post and I do agree with most of it. I'm also one of these people who stand on the Fence betwen belief and disbelief, choosing to not take a side..
The only thing is.. I'm also on said fence for what people call "magic"

If people need to argue against my Agnosticism then they have serious tolerance issues.

The origin of a) matter/energy (first law of thermodynamics), b) natural laws (laws don't write themselves) and, c) life (spontaneous generation was disproved a while ago) cannot be explained by science. In fact last time I checked, science can't even figure out why bumble bees are capable of flight.

lol you're the one who
started the argument. You can't expect to start an
argument without someone being "intolerant" (translation: one who disagrees with you).

"Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic."
Although I do believe Jesus did perform these miracles, maybe he was just an extremely intelligent man who helped others and was very devout.

She didn't start an argument she merely posted her opinion. You guize so quick to jump down each other's throats :l

Just because something isn't explained by something, doesn't mean it cannot be. The truth is, we do not have the technology to test our theories on how the universe began, or how life started, or any of that, so we can only have theories. Until there is a large enough amount of evidence supporting only one conclusion, or there is definite proof, you cannot know for sure.

Except opinions can be bait for arguments just as much as anything else.
I don't like Christianity and all that other BS as much as the next, but that doesn't mean my saying "In my opinion, it sucks and is BS" isn't going to start a flame war any less than saying "It sucks; come at me, bro!"

this would be the most logical explanation for this "Jesus" fellow. intelligent and good at getting others to convert to his beliefs.
