Fusion Rune

  How do they work? does it turn an item into a equippable NX item? Like to fusion a Queen Glory helm and cover Black Hammer helm? or does it stick onto item permanently?
  
  Also should item be colored before applying fusion rune?

  If you want, you can dye the item that you're trying to keep the appearance of beforehand, but you can dye that item once it has been fused as well.

  Generally, yes. Why take on its appearance if it doesn't look how you want it to?
  
  But to add to what Conor said, while you can dye the "appearance" before and after fusion, the cost of dyeing is based on the "stats" item. So if you wanted to fuse some low level item to a higher level one, you'd be better off dyeing it beforehand (as it will likely cost a lot more to attempt dyeing it after the fusion, assuming you use random 3-color dyeing).
  
  
  One of my old guild members even did something crazy with all this (in my opinion). He took an expensive-to-dye armor set, fused it to a cheap-as-hell-to-dye set, got it looking how he wanted it, and then fused the appearance (high-level) set back to a duplicate set of the same exact set, i.e. all to get the colors he wanted without spending as much game gold.
  
  So yeah...10 fusion runes and two of the higher level sets required... :XD:

  Very good point! Since I'm biased and used dye ampoules only, I only mentioned the aforementioned.

  Say A is the high level set, and B is the low level set, and C is another cheap set
  
  5 for fusing A look onto B stat, 5 for fusing A stat (another A set) on C look, then finally 5 for fusing the look of A look/B stat and the stat of A stat/C look.
  
  You can't fuse the same look or same stat together, so you need 15 fusion stones.
