Soon he's employed in her little shop - a job which turns out to be nothing like his previous work experience!....
After Yuuko disappeared, Watanuki decided to stay and take care the shop until he sees her again. He offers up the remaining time within him in order for the shop to be stable, so he can no longer age. As a result of this, and also as his price to escape from Fei Wong Reed's trap with Syaoran, Watanuki can never leave the shop again.
Later on he seems to gain bits and parts of Yuko's character, habits, and even her demeanor.

Xxxholic hasn't updated much to my understanding, but nevertheless, the series is still around, unlike it's partner Tsubasa Chronicles which ended a short while ago. Here, we're starting at Chapter 186, a good 2 years after Watanuki inherited, "The Shop that can Grant Any Wish."

Month by month, and then to add, the scanlators are slowing down with translations because of that ban in Japan. Either way, Xxxholic is still here.

Yeah, now it's just random japanese folklores and such. With Tsubasa done, I don't really know where Xxxholic will derive their story from. Unless it's something about how all the inevitabilities lead to Watanuki's 'destiny.' But if that's the case, they better hurry the **** up. :l

Dropping? you won't have too, the Bessatsu Shonen Magazine site has announced that the series will be ending in February. Never really got to reading the Manga but did enjoy the Anime.

Yep, you're right. This is the end, and it is like almost every other CLAMP series, cliffhanger ending.
