Crit stat on Staves...Any Data on whether it Affects Spells?

  i searched for info and got little quantitative info...some, 'this staff has better crit,' mention in the, "A Quick Guide to the Revamped Staff Evie," thread but nothing definitive.
  
  anyone know if the crit stat on staves actually affects spell crit?
  contemplating the value of this raider's staff i've been covetting.

  what i'm asking is if anyone knows definitively whether the staff stat for crits actually works for spells. seeing as though the stat is the EXACT SAME as that of a physical damage melee weapon, it leads me to believe that it is likely a vestigial stat like ATT is (unless that affects kicks...not clear on that either i guess). for instance "Critical Hits," and "Magic Critical Hits," affect each exclusively.
