I've had to re-install Windows Vista twice now. It takes almost a whole day (as in 24 hours) to get it set up, delete all the pre intalled programs, download updates, download basic programs (antivirus, open office, etc), and ultimately downloading Mabinogi (for some reason the highest download speed is about 250 kbps even though I should have 1148 kbps) which takes like 5 hours.
The first time this happened, I didn't have restore points or anything, so it hurt a lot. I started making several restore points from that time up to the day before yesterday (that day computer stopped working QQ)......which could not be used because there were errors on the c drive or something.
So any chances of windows working fine without updating it? I'm almost sure that it is what causes the freeze ups and all those blue screens and so on (that, or a virus which survives complete reinstalls QQ).
Thanks for reading up to this point.

Update it, then when you're done download Acronis True Image and make an image of your clean OS and burn it to bluray. Use it the next time you get a critical mission failure and need to start over.

why are you still using vista, 7 is better

Not feasible at all. Windows updates are the lifeblood of your computer! x(
And Vista SP2 isn't really any worst than 7. It's virtually only a matter of UI taste, now.

Also explorer 10! poor explorer 10 :(
Not like that matters too much though, but it does kind of show where MS wants people to go.

Personally, I can't stand the UI in W7, and the visual style I use doesn't work for W7.

My, uhh, disc reader (?) doesn't work. I was planning on buying an external one, but what with all these problems and so on, I was thinking of just saving for a new laptop instead (gaming one this time 8D).
Think there is a way for me to use a flash drive instead of a disc? I was reading something about making a flash drive your repair-from-critical-errors-thingy, but it didn't work when I got a critical error. D:
@BobYoMeowMeow This be the life of the poor man. QQ
@Yoorah I see.....*cries* I guess I'll buy more flash drives in order to not have to download Mabi or anything else again.....
@Osayidan Explorer 10?O.o

It's an update for Windows Vista. Mine automatically checks for updates, so it downloads itself and you might not even know that you have it. Speaking of which, I just got it and am installing it lol.

Just don't do what I did when I reformatted:
1) Decide to not update Win 7 for over a month
2) Accidentally hit "Install updates and shutdown"
3) Wake up the next morning to find computer still updating

Thanks for the advise, I just stopped the automatic updates since it happened again. I just made a clean install for the third time. I'm suspecting some virus or something like that. I'll abstain from updating for now though. Hopefully it won't happen again. QQ

You need to install all updates, man. :| No updates is one of the major ways you get hacked/infected in the first place.

What exactly is happening that is making you reinstall, anyways?
