I want my child to believe in santa until they figure it out on their own
it's something every child should get to experience

I will let my child believe what they want. Unless I happen to marry a dumbass, they'll be smart enough to figure it out on their own eventually, but whether or not they truly want to know will depend on who they take after. I know as a child I never really cared, but I still enjoyed the thought. It was illogical but still something nice to hang onto, so why not?
I'll probably tell them "He exists if you want him to".

Daughter: Mommy, is Santa Claus real?
Elena: Yes, he is. (Points at Duy)
Me: FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU-
If you don't get it, Elena will probably make me dress up as Santa Claus and give presents to our daughter at early Christmas Day morning.

You want to tell a fantastic lie to make up for a fantastic lie? What's next? It's not the stork, it's UPS?
I would never give them the impression of Santa Claus bringing any gifts in the first place, therefore I won't have to destroy it either. Simple. When they ask me about the guy they heard their friends talk about, they will not have any emotional bonds to Santa and will not be shocked to find out I lied to them all the time when I finally do bother to tell them about something that really doesn't need to be mentioned at all to begin with.

My parents were hardcore. I remember when I started questioning it, my dad bought himself stuff and had it all say from Santa. But there was stuff from dad to mom and vice versa too.
In my child mind... it made no sense! If parents really were getting the presents then it would make no sense to wrap your own present up for yourself to give to yourself... who would do that?!
I mean, I knew... probably... but... I still held out a little hope in the back of my mind and questioned the possibility.
I know they lied, but... it's still warm memories. lol, my dad never would tell me he wasn't real, even as an adult... he went to the grave never giving up on it. Jeez.... those two...

If my kids ever question santa I'm going to be like
"Psst if I tell you this you can't tell anyone else"
"OKAY!"
"Santa never really leaves the North Pole, he has his elves come deliver all of the presents to their children, I'm an elf
and so is ___'s parents and ____'s parents
but it's elf code to never tell any child, one day you'll be an elf too
but if you tell anyone, you'll ruin christmas for everyone FOREVER"
