This is my first guide! >w<
I hope it turns out okay...
Okay Here goes!
Metal Conversion
Okay first, to learn the skill.
To learn the skill, you must complete a Quest.
This quest is automatically given to you upon CC or relog after completing the G9 quest about the Temple Knights. (The one where you rescue Jenna in Rundal.)
After you get the quest, Talk to Heledd.
She'll give you a Shadow Mission.
Go to Tara's Stonehenge and enter it.
The Mission is fairly easy.
Just walk down the street battling monsters.
The Group of monters spawn one at a time and spawn in groups of 1~2 monsters.
About halfway through the monsters you'll meet up with Jenna.
She joins you for the last half of the fighting.
Keep defeating the small groups and get to the Center of the town.
Here you'll meet the Corrupt Alchemist.
Whoop him up, but good, using whatever you have. I recommend stunning him with bolts or some other attack while having Jenna do most of the attacking since she can attack normally over 400 damage with dual wielding.
Another good idea is to poison him, since the Corrupt Alchemist has a lot of HP.
After he is defeated you'll get a Memory Cube. Take this to Heledd and she'll reward you with practice rank Metal Conversion! Good going~
Okay~
Found a chart, taken from Korean Wiki
[Image: http://img687.imageshack.us/img687/8523/metalconversionjewelmak.jpg]
So in short, once you raise this skill all the way to rank 1 (it's uncapped) you'll be getting a gem about every 20 conversions with no mistakes on the minigame, with the sizes ranging from 1~7cm. You'll be getting diamonds pretty rarely, too, at about 1/200 conversions.
Also, in case you were wondering, like I was, there is currently no use, in any version of Mabinogi from what I've read, for Tin, Zinc, or Nickel Ore Fragments. They are currently useless.
We basically found a new use for 1 kind of unknown ore and gained 3 new ores that have to discernible use! xD
*~Training the Skill~*
So to start out... well... go get Unknown ores... LOTS of them.
I went through over 500 unknown ores just for the first few ranks.
So go out there and FAIL.... metallurgy! xD
Novice Rank
- Try the skill x1 50exp
- Succeed x1 50exp
Straightforward and easy... just the success % is a bit low. Keep going. Might as well turn 5 unknown ores into 1 iron ingot since it's the same amount and the same success %.
Rank F
- Exchange for Iron Ore x30 5.00 exp
- Exchange for Iron Ingot x30 5.00 exp
Okay, don't mind those big numbers. You only need to make 20 of either type. But since Unknown ores into ingots is the same success rate, just make 20 iron ingots for this rank and TA-DA~. Done~
Rank E
- Convert to Iron Ore x15 3.00 exp
- Convert to Iron Ingot x15 3.00 exp
- Create Tin Ore x3 5.00 exp
Okay, this one's a bit more difficult. This time you have to do nearly everything since there's only 105.00 total exp to get. You need at least 145 unknown ores for this, and that's if you don't fail and make all 3 Tin ores. So get go a lot of unknown ores to cover your fails. This is also the first rank that calls to make the special metals. I'm not COMPLETELY sure, but it feels like hitting 3 green areas on the Metal Conversion Dial in the minigame and then letting the dial spin faster and faster before hitting the final one gives a higher chance of getting a byproduct. Of course I can't prove this. xD Do your best, and you should get your 3 Tin ores rather soon.
Rank D
- Convert to Iron Ore x15 3.00 exp
- Convert to Iron Ingot x15 3.00 exp
- Create Tin Ore x3 5.00 exp
This rank is EXACTLY like the last one. xD So go fail metallurgy for all those unknown ores. :P
Rank C
- Convert to Copper Ore x10 4.00
- Convert to Copper Ingot x10 4.00
- Convert to Iron Ore x10 2.00
- Create Tin Ore x3 5.00
Okay, now to convert from Iron to Copper! Unlike unknown ores being able to be turned into Iron ores AND ingots, Iron to Copper matches up ores with ores and ingots with ingots. So go get a lot of iron ores and iron ingots. Now the success rates are low... again. My advice would be to just stockpile ores and ingots and wait til it's raining on Saturday to Convert. But, that advice could be used for a lot of things. xD
Rank B
- Convert to Copper Ore x15 3.00
- Convert to Copper Ingot x15 3.00
- Convert to Iron Ore x20 1.50
- Convert to Iron Ingot x20 1.50
- Create Tin x3 5.00
The lowered experience for this rank makes this rank similar to the last one, just with you needing to make more things, for the same amount of experience. Go metallurgizing to get all those iron and unknown ores. Of course, I recommend doing the Iron to Copper first since Iron is rather readily available. So go, go, go. The success rate for Conversion is slowly building up.
Rank A
- Convert to Silver Ore x5 5.00
- Convert to Silver Ingot x5 5.00
- Convert to Copper Ore x15 2.00
- Convert to Copper Ingot x15 2.00
- Convert to Iron Ore x10 1.00
- Convert to Iron Ingot x10 1.00
- Create Zinc x3 5.00
Okay, now to use up all those copper ingots you've been making. The success rate for Copper into Silver is really low. :< But keep it up! Do all Copper to Silver first then work on Iron to Copper ores, just to save ores. Doing all Silver Ores and Ingots, Copper Ores and Zinc will give you 95.00 exp, so go do some unknown ores into iron Ingots to finish up!
Rank 9
- Convert to Silver Ore x3 5.00
- Convert to Silver Ingot x3 5.00
- Convert to Copper Ore x15 2.00
- Convert to Copper Ingot x15 2.00
- Create Zinc x3 5.00
Another rank with only 105 max exp... Okay, you're stuck doing EVERYTHING, unless you get 3 Zinc, which you should. In which case you'll do everything but 3 Copper Ingot Conversions. Keep your supply of ores and ingots healthy. If anything's nice, it's that you only need 4 ores/ingots to convert into one instead of the old 5:1.
ALSO!!!!!
Bad news! From this point on, the green areas on the dial mini-game get smaller at rank 9. So, focus and hit those spots! You don't want to fail more than you have to!
I'M ONLY RANK 9 AT THIS MOMENT SO ANYTHING PAST THIS IS JUST SPECULATION BASED ON WHAT I'VE BEEN DOING SO FAR.
Oh btw, I made my first diamond with rank 9 Metal Extraction. Don't forget, it's random!
Rank 8
- Convert to Gold Ore x8 5.00
- Convert to Gold Ingot x8 5.00
- Convert to Silver Ore x5 2.00
- Convert to Silver Ingot x5 2.00
- Convert to Copper Ore x5 0.50
- Convert to Copper Ingot x5 0.50
- Make Zinc x3 5.00
Do Silver to Gold Ores and Ingots for 80.00 skill exp, then do the Copper to Silver for 20 points total. If you manage to make any Zinc that just means you don't have to Convert as much Copper into Silver. But finish up Silver to Gold first, since it gives the most experience, and you should have quite a bit of silver from all the metallurgizing you've been doing.
Rank 7
- Convert to Gold Ore x5 5.00
- Convert to Gold Ingot x5 5.00
- Convert to Silver Ore x5 2.00
- Convert to Silver Ingot x5 2.00
- Convert to Copper Ore x50 0.50
- Convert to Copper Ingot x50 0.50
- Make Zinc x3 5.00
This Rank is just like the last one, just with changed up requirement amounts. Finish all Gold and Silver Conversions for 70.00 exp and hopefully you'll have also gotten 3 Zinc for a total of 85.00 training. Then, all that's left is to exchange iron ore into copper ore for the remaining 15.00 training!
Rank 6
- Convert to Mythril Ore x5 5.00
- Convert to Mythril Ingot x5 5.00
- Convert to Gold Ore x10 1.50
- Convert to Gold Ingot x10 1.50
- Convert to Silver Ore x30 0.20
- Convert to Silver Ingot x30 0.20
- Convert to Copper Ore x100 0.10
- Make Zinc x3 5.00
Just one rank away from another reduction in the needed materials (and possibly another mini-game difficulty increase, like at rank 9)! Start off by turning gold into mythril for a total of 50.00, 25.00 each from Ore to Ore and Ingot to Ingot. Next do the same for Silver to Gold to get another 30.00 training, for a new total of 80.00. Now, hopefully by now you will have gotten 3 more Zinc at least for 15.00 more points. This makes your total 95.00 training. Now just finish up with Copper ore to Silver ore and boom! Rank 5 is now yours~!
Okay! That's it for now! I'll add the rest of the ranks later on. I wanna get back to my own training. xD
Also, please, if you have any idea what the special metals such as Tin and Zinc are used for, PLEASE say it here. I'm dying to know!
Hopefully this guide Helps some! >.<
