Does vindictus download information as you play it? I'm wondering this because I friend has Hughesnet and if he downloads too much his internet will be slowed tremendously. Also if it does, how much is downloaded?

lol this thread... srry but... yeah You can't play a game online w/o downloading info
not much is downloaded obviously just prob a small packet stream its what allows you to load other people and see them what allows you to be connected to their servers and receive and send packets to stay connected, the bandwidth is minimal
tell him not to worry about it

Um, Mabinogi took a toll on my bandwidth a few years ago on satellite.
I would think Vindi would be much worse.

Well I knew that there would obviously be some downloading involved but wasn't sure considering that everything is peer to peer. Wasn't sure if by joining a party he'd have to download a good deal of info or not. Mabinogi has never been a problem for him but minecraft servers are a constant drain. I suppose we'll just play a bit and see what happens.

I've been tracking Vindictus bandwidth usage myself, and it's quite light. I didn't check the actual transfer rates, but if you join a battle it'll use about ~5 Megabytes of data, if you host a party for ~4 it will use about 20MB of data. My 1 megabit upload can only support a party of 6 before everyone lags, so i haven't been able to see how much bandwidth the bigger raids take.
Bandwidth in town is negligible - though this might be because I'm always on a quiet channel.
This is what I'm using to test:

~5MB or ~5Mbps? MB is MegaBytes and it's 8x Mb (Megabits)
Tried the program, I get 75 kbps (avg) in midst of a battle, 37 kbps in town (avg). I don't think the game would eat up 5MB bandwidth. 5 Mbps might be possible, though.
looks like the upload builds up over time, before it's only 15kbps, now it's 105 kbps, and increasing.

lolol sorry for being very unclear. I never checked the bandwidth rate-usage, just the total volume-usage.
If you join a battle it'll use up about 5 megabytes. If you host a 4-player party it'll use about 20 megabytes. My one megabit upload can only host up to six players before they lag so hosting large raids will use much more.
