It looks about the same as Open Office and they both are about the same. I guess it's ok, but I always go back to Open. The coloring is icky though, but I've never tried changing it

I like it better then OpenOffice, but there really isn't much of a difference and I didn't mind using either one. I just stuck with LibreOffice when I was running Linux on my computer. I've written papers on it and it's a great Office Suite. I'd recommend it to anyone using Linux.

The guys at Openoffice left because of some Oracle drama and went to Libraoffice. That's why Openoffice hasn't been updated in months.
They're basically the same and the same as Microsoft Office without the retarded ribbon menus.

Well I downloaded Libreoffice and it seems to work pretty well. Some of the auto formatting is annoying, but overall it feels like a solid program.

I use Open Office, haven't had any problems with it.

Open/Libre Office is great, except some formatting issues can come up when you transfer a document between that and MS Office. x( (Or at least, this used to be true.. dunno if they fixed it yet.) So if you want to, say, give your teacher a copy of your work, I'd suggest you export it to PDF (this feature is built in) to ensure it'll look on the teacher's end the way you think it will look. xd

Yeah.
R.I.P all my symbols. My Biology outline looked stupid when I transferred it from OO to MSW.

Part of the format conversion issues can be avoided by saving your document in MS Word format from the beginning. If you do that, the differences between how it is viewed in OO and MSW should be minimal.. but they can still become visible and annoying in certain cases.
Personally, I just use
http://docs.google.com for almost everything now. Cloud storage is nice, no need to install and update any software is nice also. There's wifi everywhere on campus so connectivity/availability is a non-issue.

Yeah, I use Google Docs, but only as a go-between for transferring files from my netbook to a school computer.
I really ought to see if I can't wirelessly hook this thing up to our printer...
