I don't you quite understand the ramifications of using that word on this forum.
I'm sure I have an idea of what the ramifications are, but I'd like to hear you say it, just for funsies.
The problem I have with most weeaboo's is that more often than not, they show no respect to the culture they're mimicing. They'll fanboy anime and manga, spout off popular phrases, and mimic things they honestly don't understand, or don't even attempt to understand them. If you cannot see how someone like me, who is Japanese, and was raised in Japan in a
very traditional family, could find this annoying and disrespectful, must mean you're lacking basic understanding.
I don't know Xiya enough to have formed an opinion of her, and while I'll say "You weeaboo!", I try to make it the least serious I can. She might be the rarity on the Internet, of someone who actually wishes to learn about Japan, rather than someone who just likes to fanboy, in which case I'd still tease her, but I'd at least have respect for her.
On the other hand, she might be the type to call herself an otaku, or a NEET (Which is generally used in the wrong instance), and just enjoy anime, manga, and speaking broken Japanese. This is the type of weeaboo I have nothing but disdain for.
There are also people like Saani, who likes only one thing, and doesn't care for much else of the culture. I don't mind them, as they don't really do anything disrespectful, and they're actually fun to talk to in comparison to the fanboys.
Also, calling someone a weeaboo when they are a weeaboo isn't exactly disrespectful, as that is exactly what they are. Theres a thousand other terms that could have been used, but I view that as the least insulting, and the least demeaning to the person.
Now, let me ask you something? If you're in Canada or America, have you ever been outside of your country, to one that has a completely different culture? Do you think it would be acceptable to go around acting the way that most weeaboo's do in another country, when they really know nothing of the culture, and just make a nuisance of themselves?
And as I said, this wasn't directed at anyone other than 'Theotakucrew', which honestly just annoys the hell out of me, for obvious reasons.
