Okay. Not sure whats wrong with it, but I think its a problem in Windows itself.
1. My old Windows XP SP2, well its about time it needed a complete looking at.
2. Internet Explorer does not work. When loading it just goes to a "cannot connect". Diagnose tools tell me nothing.
3. I cannot install IE8, and reasons are not mentioned.
4. I cannot install Chrome, saying the computer is not up to date enough.
5. The computer is trying to install updates (Service Pack 3), but at the very end, I get an "error" with no details, and it reverts all its progress.
6. DFO does not launch, I get an "error". FAQ suggests that I change the localization to USA, and I did (along with everything else in regional settings). But I still get this error. Also, when I right click applications like java or flash, options still appear in Korean, meaning its like only 90% of the locale was changed to English, while some stays in Korean. They also suggest trying Internet Explorer, which I obviously cannot use.
Everything else seems to work fine.
But I want Service Pack 3. I want to hold a copy of Internet Explorer for them Korean website compatibility. I want to run DFO.
Can anyone even make a remote guess as to what is preventing my computer from installing these softwares/updates?

I had the same problem with ie on an older xp i had, as well as being unable to update. Mine was caused by the exessive amounts of spyware/adware/general viruses, which doesnt sound like is the case here. If your antivirus reports come up clean try a system restore. Mabey try running some things in safemode and see what comes up.
Also related, it seems i am unable to connect to hackshield servers to update for dfo, so im unable to log onto dfo or even update it right now. I keep getting an error message saying ahnhs cant connect to the designated server, been that way for a few hours now.

I don't use that junk.
Everyone knows that localized versions of the original will always lose something in the process.
And I don't believe I have any malicious softwares... the computer is running an antivirus that is considered the most popular in Korea. I don't know exactly how dependable it is, but since my dad is such a huge fan of it, I'd say its safe to assume its pretty good (eats ram like a ***** though).

Uhh, maybe try going into IE
> Tools
> Internet Options
> Connections Tab
> LAN Settings
And look to see if your proxy box is checked (Use a proxy etc..)
That could stop internet explorer from working, and if it was checked then you might want to scan your computer for spyware and virus'. Best I could think of right now.. Sorry if it doesn't help Dx
