So few days ago my Cadet Badge expired ( awwww :[ ) I liked it for the extra core drops for raid and material farming. But now I want to repurchase the badge. I noticed a huge price gap between Cadet and Novice Badge and bonus.
Cadet Badge: +10 Luk +600 def
Novice Badge: +7 Luk
Question is how is Luk Calculated as? (Example: +10 Luk = 10% chance you get extra core [them shiny core from boss drop]?
and does 600def make any difference? Currently 5949 Def on my Karok

600 DEF makes a huge difference if your DEF is near or over the ATT of a boss. Once you reach a boss' ATT with your DEF, you'll start to see each couple hundred or so extra DEF will give you a difference in damage (could be hundreds less damage depending on how strong of an attack we're talking). 5949 + 600 DEF would be close to the breaking point for current raid bosses (Thor has 6900 something ATT), so you ought to be able to notice the difference. I wouldn't buy the Cadet of the Novice though just because of that, since you should be training yourself to Absorb Shock everything instead of taking hits. Having that comfort zone is nice but do you value that at $4?
That being said, I don't really have any hard numbers for the difference of 3 LUK, but from my experiences, I rarely, if ever, get 2 or more white cores when I have a Cadet badge. If you strictly just want white cores, Novice badge does the job just fine, since both badges will guarantee that you get at least one white core from a boss.
