Can't they reverse this and give sight to the blind?

They can already give sight to the blind, by wiring a camera to the brain. I believe it worked in black and white and at low res, but it was usable.

Imagine penises everywhere when it's used on you.
No one will ever want to try it on you again.

It reminds me of Brainstorm, the cult movie in which a group of scientists lead by Christopher Walken develops a machine capable of recording the five senses of a human being and then play them back into the brain itself.
I honestly was thinking of this when I started reading the article.
/inb4 this technology falls into the hands of fanfiction people

Lots of good uses for this but eventually it'll lead to invasion of privacy at extreme levels.
Thought the TSA was bad with their body scanners?
Have fun with this.

Thoughtcrime.
It's a cool idea. Just that the 1984-ness potential freaks me out a bit.

There are easily thousands of reasons this could be bad, but an equal or greater number why it could be good.
An invention always has horrible uses in the wrong hands.
Gun.
Hammers.
The internet.
All of the above can be used for multiple reasons. I could go hunting or shoot someone, build a house for the homeless or break a shop window.
Point is, you cant stop progress because of conspiricy theories.

Quote from Cynic;599929:
I would either end up in a mental institute or some huge pity fest if this were ever to happen to my dreams, so I think I shall pass.
^ this more than likely (most probably the mental institute). could always do what Athde said and sell my nightmares to Hollywood for movie ideas.
