I'm in my Junior year of HS:cheer: It feels good to almost be done and be able to get out of the house... Theres only one problem. Apparenly I did pretty well on my PSAT's last year. Well enough to where the district thinks i might be able to be able to be a National Merit Scholar :imdead:
I'm flattered and all, but this has lead them to offer me a class after school on Mondays and Wendsdays as a PSAT prep(the one that counts for NMS) along with about 20 others.
Normally I'd be fine with this. I know i'll be taking it (my parents & grandparents are all teachers:chomp2:) So we go to the meeting and heres what they tell us:
It'll cost 50$ (Which is pretty good considering other districts have them pay 300+)
I'll have about 5 problems every class for HW
It'll be on Mondays and Wendsdays.
It'll last for 3 hours.
Wait a minute.... 3 hours
There's a problem here.
Go to school at 9:00. Lasts till 4:00.
Class starts at 4:30. Lasts till 7:30.
Parents force me to bed at 10:cry:
Leaves me 2 and a half hours to eat, shower, do homework, then do w.e I want... which leaves at about 10 mins...
I'm probably ranting about something stupid because I still have the rest of the week to do stuff. But I still cant help but feel that two of my afternoons got brutally murdered...:point:

At least it's not all week. Hope you can cope with it. Maybe you can ask your parents to let you sleep at 11 those days.

sleeping at 10. How do you sleep at 10. HOW. Orz. I go to sleep at 130am earliest T_T
OT: well, in the long run, if you do get a scholarship, you might be able to save some money and in the end have less things to worry about :D?

It'll help with college. You'll live; it's only 2 nights a week and you still have weekends~

The PSAT is overrated, and if you've done any form of SAT prep over the summer, you should be fine. Unless you're forced to take these classes, I wouldn't recommend doing them, as the PSAT is easier than the SAT and thus not good preparation for the SAT. Even if you do become a finalist, if you don't have a phenomenal GPA and great extracurriculars, you're most likely not going to get the $2500 scholarship. You will probably get some full-ride scholarships to some colleges as a Semifinalist or Finalist, although you may not have heard of them before in your life.

Your school starts at 9? Mine starts at 7 :(
Right now I'd be happy to be in your position, freaking out about SATs and don't have anyone to help me study.

I'd never say no to a potential scholarship but it also helps that I don't like sports. I suppose it comes down to how much you [S]party on[/S] enjoy the weekends. If you can no-life it during the weekdays, it'll make your weekends that much sweeter.

This
PSAT is terrible practice
taking the SAT is better for "practice" or using practice tests from the blue Collegeboard books

At least it's getting you ready for what your college schedule could be like.
