I'll be doing 2 version of the base colors, since I kind of want to keep to the originals, but I also want a bit more harmony. Just a matter of adjustment layers so it should be alright.

Yeah, that's the thing. I like it the way it is, but at the same time, I want to try and pop some colors in there. My teacher told me to keep both versions. So what I did is I left the border and cleaned it and the lines up a bit. And on different layers I'll add the colors. My original plan was to use bright colors, but once I saw it with that one block of color, I liked the way that looked. So...even though I want to add colors, I want to maintain that simple color scheme feel...Ahhh. What I'm thinking of doing is just blocking everything in with it's original colors, saving that version, then just using the background colors as a palette.
