Dang, I feel bad for that girl. Exorcism goes as a far as taking someone's life much? Geez, that must have been such a painful experience for her.
Their beliefs are terrible.

So what do they believe now, that she died with the spirit in her? I hope it at least hangs over their heads.

Depending on how their beliefs are, I guess they might believe it died and took her with it or they just failed.
But that's only my take on how their minds work.

Then people tell me to respect the beliefs of others.
Am I supposed to respect these beliefs too?

Suffocation is such an awful way to die, too.
Real sad.
she had undergone the ritual a hundred times before.
I believe some places used the same method to torture people and get information out of them.
A spokesperson for the Nakayamashingoshoshu's (a sect of Buddhism) main temple in Kiyama said: “The water rite is done to bring one's wishes to reality, but of course you cannot exorcise with it. We also do not instruct to bound the arms and legs when doing the ritual.â€
So they weren't even doing it right.

Quote from Kingofrunes;604730:
If you're going to do exorcisms, call the Catholic church. They're the pyscho's who do all of this. Monks don't get into that sort of thing.
That being said, the idea of an Exorcism is very dangerous and can harm the person a lot more than help them.
Exorcisms with the catholic church usually make things worse. The priests tend to piss the spirits off and possessions and hauntings only get worse than if just let alone.
