Silent Hill 8 is coming to PS3, Xbox in 2011

Konami has put the psychological horror series Silent Hill in the hands of a new developer, Vatra Games. Konami confirms today that the third-person frightfest, Silent Hill 8, will be hitting the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in 2011.

Silent Hill 8, as they're calling it now, will put players in the role of prison escapee Murphy Pendleton. After a prison transport crashes, Pendleton finds himself stranded in the unpleasant little town of Silent Hill. Expect "mind-bending puzzles," "horrific creatures" and other terrors. The combat seems to have an emphasis on using everyday objects, like glass bottles and wooden chairs, for survival.

From our E3 2010 liveblog, it appears the same flashlight fun and spooky exploration gameplay will be intact. Konami claims the game will appeal to fans of the early Silent Hill games.

Since series composer Akira Yamaoka has left the Silent Hill group, Silent Hill 8's music will be handled by Daniel Licht. He's composed music for Hellraiser and Children of the Corn films, as well as TV show Dexter.

How will the fans of the older Silent Hill enjoy this game if Team Silent isn't working on it?
Team Silent is dead, and with the atmospheric music gone, how can you have a good silent hill game?

Yep XD

They updated this recently though, other members can just press F12 instead of running to the warp point. (when at least one member of the party is at the warp point already).

Hideo Kojima is set to announce a major PS3 exclusive at Tokyo Games Show in September.

That's according to a senior US publishing source close to CVG.

We were told at E3 yesterday that Kojima - who made a star turn at the Los Angeles expo this week - will announce a "massive PS3 exclusive that will own the show" in Tokyo.

Details are thin on the ground, but we understand the title will be published by Konami. The publisher oversees Kojima Productions in Japan.

CVG understands that Kojima was keen to show the game at E3, but decided to polish his demo until September "to ensure it's bulletproof".

Kojima was in London this week to sign copies of his latest opus, Metal Gear Soild: Peace Walker on PSP.

His games - MGS: Rising on 360/PS3 and a MGS: Snake Eater demo on 3DS - were the talk of E3 this week, with early indications suggesting Rising will support Kinect on the Xbox platform.

Hint: Snake won't be in it.

The cat would prefer if he works on his other series instead of Metal Gear though.

Bob, please try to keep things that have been announced at E3 in the E3 thread. Sure, it may be an announcement about the Tokyo Game Show, but it was still announced during E3.

Only thing I don't like for now is the main character's face, reminds me of a oblivion character.
