@Osay - So the 45...does it total everyone's ignores and disregards any repeats, or is it 45 different people on the list? Just curious.
All entries on the ignore list, so let's some some asshat joined and 5 people blocked him and then he got banned, that's 5 entries.

Ah, I see.

I personally don't use it, because like TA said, everybody's different in how they handle a situation, and I can handle mine by controlling myself from overriding emotions. That being said, there are people who obviously aren't me, so they need(?) something like this to deal with said situations.
"For" for others; "Against" for myself.

I'm for it. A lot of people are saying, "Oh it doesn't solve the problem" but from what I've seen of a lot of the posters, they REFUSED to even try and solve the problem. That just creates way more drama when two people are refusing to stop, so I'd rather have the ignore function present so there's not an abundance of cattiness and rudeness happening just because person A and person B can never agree.
^ thinking it can be so easily solved or that one can ignore a person on their own is unrealistic. It's a lot better than having people arguing with eachother even more because they can't resist the temptation to read the post of someone they dislike.
Not having it will only cause even more of a drift between people, which I assumed was something most of you were against the the first place.

Against it personally, which is why I don't use it.
I think the feature is redundant more than anything, and for me personally it's creating issues because I feel like people I constantly argue with are just being ignored by people due to this new feature. It's frustrating at best and infuriating at worst.
You can always say, "WELL, JUST IGNORE THEM!", but I don't think sweeping my problems under a rug makes them better, or makes them go away.

Can't say I've ever met someone who liked the idea of getting ignored....

No, but sometimes, ignoring the problem really is the only solution left. Some people here will know when they can and cannot handle themselves, and around who, and decide what to do from there.
Personally, I have this one specific person, that whenever I read their posts, I literally (in the correct sense of the word) want to punch something or tear my own hair out. No matter what I say, they won't change, and I certainly won't change myself to fit their views, so what I'm going to do is make them invisible to me.

I'm for it.
I think it would really improve if you couldn't see they have posted at all. For example, someone on my ignore list posted on my thread, and even though I can't see this person's post, it constantly kept coming up with this person being the most recent poster of the thread.

You can still see when anyone on your list posts though.
It's kinda funny when someone on your list starts a thread and it just shows an empty page.

I never notice unless they're the first/last poster. xD

I'm not really for or against it..
I feel like it can go both ways, so I have no idea if this has been mentioned..but instead of one side getting their way, why not just meet each other half way? D=
If this can even be done that is, perhaps instead of giving the user the right to just block whoever they want why not make it a mod thing? Like if they want to add someone to their ignore list they'd have to get approval from a certain moderator or something. Like how one side says..they want a mature community who can handle issues, so why not make sure it's at least mature reasons..that way at least the side who feels like they need the option can have some choices too.
It'd at least prevent needless ignoring and no one would need to worry about a moderator doing so (although I doubt that's a worry to begin with xD;) Not only that but it may give the mods a better idea of who might be disrupting the community.
Both sides have valid points and you're all apart of the same community so why not make a compromise? D:
Just my thoughts though ;;

I like being able to add people myself. If it were up to moderators, they'd have to view every request. I mean, I don't think this would be a massive amount of work, but it would be enough to get tedious.
Ignore lists are nothing new, and people can block who they want if they want.
If people are worried about posts getting reported: It's not like the mods just sit back and only take action when there's reports (at least, I hope that's not how it works.)

i personally know what it feels like to be so angered by someone that you just have to block/ignore them to keep yourself from saying something rude. i don't see why there should be an issue for people to have the option to turn to.
i haven't used it because if anyone's ever pissed me off enough on here i've just said something or shaken my head, but after literally being internet stalked by someone for upwards of three years (from website to website, emails, games, you name it, they'd always find me and act as if i hadn't told them to screw off) then yeah, i would most definitely like that option if that person or any situation like that was to arise. i'm pretty sure anyone could agree.
