You know, this is why I like to stick to games and **** I can either:
1. Buy on retail.
2. Play for free.
3. Play for free with the exception of cash shops which I can get a card for.
Right now, I am trying to buy Minecraft, but it's utter bull****.
You see, a few days ago, I decided I wanted to buy Minecraft. It looks like a really cool game, and it's crazy popular. So, I asked mom and dad. Now, they tend to be forgetful about things like that, so I have to be consistent, even though I hate being consistent.
Anyways, they at first were gonna use their own credit card to get the game, but they read the liscense agreement and found how, I think, the game was stationed outside of the US or something like that and, just like with a few other games I tried to get in the past, thought it was some attempt at credit card theft. >_>
So, to be on the safe side, mom wanted me to get a pre-paid card instead, but she never got around to using my money to put on the pre-paid card she already used before in the past. So, when we went to target, she got me a gift card for 25 dollars. Now, I thought it was supposed to already have been activated (because I'm new to this kind of thing) and she said it was, but I guess it wasn't.
So, I tried buying the game with a Visa gift card from Target for 25 dollars, and I got too consistent even though it told me that the card wasn't something. I forgot the term. Wasn't validated or something like that, and now it's saying that using that type of card is disabled for 24 hours.
So, I had to wait for another few days until we went to Walmart today, and I got a pre-paid Visa WalMart card and put 22 dollars on it. But now, I tried using it and now the thing is saying use of the card is disabled for another 24 hours!
So, it turns out, I still got to activate THIS card now. I also read that PayPal may work better. So, I go to the website the card tells me to go to, and try to activate the card, in which they start to ask me all this ****: Where do I live? What's my social security number? What's my phone number? The usual.
So, I try to get that to work, but it keeps rejecting whatever address I give it. Whether it be the real address, a fake one, or what not. So, it says because of lack of information, but card can only be made to be one-time use. So, I accept that.
So now, since the website is still rejecting the current card, I try loading it onto a PayPal account, but to have a PayPal account, I need a bank account to link it to, which I don't have yet.
So now, I'm stuck with 2 pieces of plastic that I can't do jack-**** with right now, AND I've (though not entirely) lost over 47 dollars. Way much more than the actual game costs.
And while I may be able to get the game tomorrow or the day after tomorrow, this week is, according to my parents, gonna be one of the most busiest, hecktic and work-filled weeks of this month:
My dad needs help building something for the dogs outside, we've got to make several trips to this city called Jackson and at least one to a city called Dysersburg, the forecast says it's gonna rain all week AAAAND to top it all off, I got some really hard Algebra work coming up, so even if I WAS to play Minecraft, this week would be the worst time to even make the smallest attempt.
However, I've already have made up my mind. While I may make another attempt on the weekend, I'm gonna give up on Minecraft. Terraria is a great game that's gonna get even better anyways, and I already have it. I was actually surprised by how easy it was to get it.
Unless Minecraft goes retail or unless I actually catch a break on trying to make these transaction and **** work, you won't be seeing me playing Minecraft.
I'm just gonna keep playing this game called Ryzom for a bit until Terraria's update comes out, or until Guild Wars 2 or Firefall comes out. Whichever comes first.
Is it just me, or is online shopping a bunch of dreadfully over-complicated bull**** that makes you jump through a bunch of hoops and causes frustration that is sooooo not worth the effort? Maybe it's just another one of those things that will be much easier to accomplish when I'm 18 or older.
You know, it seems like the reality of how many things I can't (easily) do until I'm 18 is hitting me at it's hardest, and the fact that I'm so close yet so far (I'm 16) just makes the wait even more painful.
But that's another topic for another time.
