Last sentence doesn't always apply, but those people are likely not in Wall Street protesting.

[S]Depending on which was posted first, one of these is a ripoff of the other, but very different messages. Note the exact wording similarities.

When the OP said that he's not part of the 99%, he simply meant that he did not want to associate himself with the losers who are wasting their time protesting about nothing in particular. xP

I understand that but there are more outside circumstances that put people in the 99%, some people just cant win no matter what.

Problem is that the 99% should probably be split at that point from
"the group in the 99% that could've been done well by trying hard and making good decisions"
and
"the group in the 99% that had no chance of doing well ever"
And you'll see that you again find yourself having a rather staggering split in %.

So 99.00% - 99.49% could've made better choices. 99.50% - 99.99% couldn't have changed the outcome. I understand it all, just that one of my friends who I work with never ever wins, there is always something that ****s with her life. She has food stamps and medical insurance. She was getting cash assistance but never signed up for it, so when she didn't fill out the paperwork for it she wasn't in "compliance" so she might lose her aid.
Shes also pregnant, her fiance is in jail on and off and gets out 5 days after she gives birth, she might have cervical cancer, managers at work won't let her call out anymore, wont let her leave early, or call out for a doctors appointment (to keep her financial aid) despite her being a good worker. It'll all just be used against her. Plus they won't let her go full-time cause they don't wanna pay for the benefits of a full-time associate.

I get that. I really do.
Some people really have it bad.
And it would be unfair to say everyone has the same opportunities.
But too many people in the 99% group believe themselves to be part of this completely defenseless demography of people whose entire lives are being manipulated by the evils of 1%. Its just not true. They're accepting defeat and shifting the blames from themselves to others.
People like these will just stay as members of the 99% because they can never evaluate themselves.

Yaaaaaah, most don't feel like the blame is their's when all day have to do is look back at the decisions they made. Most could definitely have been avoided or at least have been a better situation. Ignorance runs rampant, nobody likes to be the brunt of the blame but would be the first ones to put it on somebody else.
It's why I like having my mom take 2/3 of my paycheck every 2 weeks and locks it in an account I cannot touch because I have that nice cushion to rely on when I do move out. Although it leaves me with roughly $200 for 2 weeks and that's on weeks I don't have to pay rent.

When I get my paycheck it just goes to the bank and I move all of it to my savings account on the spot. I'm such a minimalist. Never spending money.

I rarely do but I have to keep my social life up and that requires the occasional dinner+movie, or late night pancake runs to the local diner after closing with friends. Though we only went out for pancakes once, but the gas ;_;
