Do auxiliary weapons lose dura?

It won't lose dura from getting hit, for sure. It won't lose dura from use, but it might lose the dura just from wearing it.
I am not sure, but the rate the dura goes down is much slower.

You won't lose dura when you get hit or anything while having an auxilary weapon, but it's still affected by the dura loss you get just from wearing it. It dosen't go into play however, until you equip it as your current slot. See, the thing is: Each item you have equipped loses dura every 5 minutes as wearing it dura loss, and it accumulates on an auxiliary weapon. If you had an auxiliary weapon on for 10 minutes, it would not lose dura but all your other equipment would; but it loses the entire amount of dura from the wear down loss when you put it on your hand. So you would receive 10 minutes worth of dura loss on that weapon when you equip it as your current weapon slot instantly. You can avoid this by logging out or ccing to reset your dura loss points on the weapon, however. That's why you don't afk. :)

Secondary Weapon Slot and Durability - Mabinogi Guru Forums
What he's saying in that message though is that if you have nothing equipped in a slot for a long period of time, the next item to be equipped in that slot loses durability equal to every interval that passed with nothing in that slot.
A basic example is having no robe equipped for say...an hour. Equip a robe without logging out/changing channel, the next 5 minute interval that passes will see that robe lose an entire hours' worth of durability loss, plus the 5 minute interval it was equipped for. I've personally had it happen to me where I've had my armor unequipped while I was afk fishing and forgot to log out, then had it lose over an entire point of durability when I put it back on. Something to keep in mind if you like to afk naked. XD
I've been idling with my spirit weapon for almost two hours, and when I switched to my other weapon set just recently and waited for the next 5 minute interval, the thing I was holding lost 11 times more dura than expected.
So, it appears as though the inactive weapon set gets the penalty regardless of whether it is holding equipment or not.
If I remember correctly, this also applies to clothes in your inventory. So if you afk nekkid for 5 hours, change channels or log out before putting your clothes and weapons back on because as soon as you put them back on, you lose all of that durability :/
I remember starting that thread because I was upset that my Ego Ice Wand spontaneously lost like 6 durability. The lesson is, whenever you change gear you should change channels or log out first. Especially if you spend long periods of time in one channel.
Alternatively, you could carry around junk items to act as decay eaters. Meaning, if you drop yourself into Rabbie Advance and go to bed for like 10 hours, equip an Empty Bottle and Cooking Table and wait for the next 5 minute intervals so that they lose dur instead of your real weapons.
