...what the ****ing hell is wrong with some people? "Mind your own business"?!?!?!?! you call that ****ing business?!?!?!?!
Clearly business as usual for these people.

This is absolutely absurd. So sad. Have things really gotten this bad? Smh... I hope this child survives. Another question: Where were the parents when the child was wandering aimlessly into the streets with no supervision? Guess they don't pay enough attention to their kids in China, but then again, that part is a universal problem. -.-
They were folding dried clothes I believe. They tried looking for the girl, but couldn't find her.

I read about this way before this was posted on MN.

The results of the car accident were:
Both drivers were caught.
Investigations of the people who walked by are underway.
Doctors think the best-case scenario for the girl is a vegetative state.
Her mother was in the washroom @ the store.
Her father is currently in investigation for some reason.
The info I read was different. It also said that the first driver turned himself in after speaking to the media.
-"If she is dead, I may pay only about 20,000 yuan ($3,125). But if she is injured, it may cost me hundreds of thousands yuan," said the driver over the phone to the media, before he gave himself up to the police.
Thats more money than he's ever going to pull. I think now I can see why he ran off.
"Is money more important than the life of a person" is actually an awful question to ask. To an economist, the life of an American is valued at about 300 thousand dollars. This is just a fact. I could explain how this number comes out, but I'm pressed on time right now.
In China, this value is significantly lower.
2500 dollars in China is the average household income yearly. Take into consideration living expenses in China, you're probably making about 200 dollars to spare each year for anything that doesn't go straight into survival.
To pay it off 3000 dollars, you're looking 10+ years in which you live doing nothing but work, eat, and sleep. Turning off that air conditioning, heating, never eating out, never buying yourself something other than what you need to live, for over 10 years. But no, he just "broke up with his girlfriend". His "household income" probably consists of himself, meaning he's got probably half the money of the average household income. We're looking like 25 years of a hellish life for this man. Assuming that he just hit the girl on accident, and didn't run her over because he's a jerk, he doesn't deserve that kind of life.
I'm not saying he's justified in what he did, but you can't help feel pity when a person puts himself in a situation like this. It doesn't have to be in China. Given the conditions I just mentioned above, there will be a lot of people who would chose to run away after something like this no matter where it is in the world.
The way he ran over her slowly and then went off with it was pretty sickening.
(CNN) -- A 2-year-old Chinese girl -- who was ignored after being hit by two cars last week, later sparking a fierce debate about the state of China's morals -- has died, a nurse at a military hospital said.
Wang Yue died about 12:32 a.m. Friday, according to a nurse in the intensive care unit at Guangzhou Military Hospital, in Guangzhou. The nurse would not give her name, a common practice in such situations.
Video captured by a nearby security camera showed a pair of drivers, one after the other, hitting Yue, in Foshan in Guangdong Province. More than a dozen people walked, cycled or drove past the toddler as she lay bleeding in a busy market.
The girl was eventually rescued by a 58-year-old scavenger, who pulled her aside and tried to get help.
The toddler's mother, Qu Feifei, later said her daughter was in critical condition at a hospital, with her brain showing little activity despite earlier subtle movements in her lower body.
The video footage sparked a global outcry about the state of morality in China's fast-changing society. That included generating a flurry of activity on Sina Weibo, China's equivalent of Twitter, and spurring a "Stop Apathy" online campaign.
Two government offices in Guangdong province, where the hit-and-run occurred, offered the Good Samaritan, identified as Chen Xianmei ,a total of 20,000 yuan (US $3,135), according to state-run Xinhua news agency.
The young girl's mother has said she did not understand the behavior of the passersby, but wanted to focus on the positive.
"Granny Chen represents the best of human nature," she said of her daughter's rescuer. "It's the nicest and most natural side of us."
On Sina Weibo, China's equivalent of Twitter, the story was the No. 1 topic this week, at one point generating more than 4.5 million posts along with a "stop apathy" online campaign.
As the outrage over morality continued, a steady procession of well-wishers pours in, offering gifts, money and support to the toddler's family.
