I'm really surprised to see this from a Chinese person. Most of them
rage at me like proud idiots when I say anything negative about the country. D:

Some people actually like their country and have relatives there. *shrug*
But saying you hate china after seeing this video is like you're judging the whole country and its citizens based on the actions of a few people. That's just ignorant.

First of all, that's no excuse to rage like an idiot at criticism that is well deserved. How much they like their country (even though they left it because it sucks lol >_>) doesn't matter. It's only a matter of logic. Those people have serious pride issues, so they throw logic out of the window.
Second, you're also incorrect in implying that I hate China, because that is not what I said. And Jerain doesn't hate China because of this incident; this is merely one example why he does. "This is why" was not to be taken literally.

There are people like that in every country. Also, even though "this is why" was not to be taken literally, it still implies that it happens all the time.
And "left it because it sucks"? Hardly makes your post seem more mature ._.

"left it because it sucks" is an oversimplified, lighthearted--but accurate way of putting it.
And this kind of stuff DOES happen all the time. >_>

The same kind of cruelty happens in every other country.
Saying a country sucks in a "oversimplified, lighthearted, but accurate way" is also an offensive way. To define a country with the word "sucks" and saying it's completely accurate? Since when is that not insulting? You can't just say, oh, your country sucks and all the people there ignore dying kids on the street all the time, and expect people
not to respond.

There may be freak cases in various countries, but China stands out because it's common there. They themselves realize this, which is why they're having all those discussions now.
It sucks in the contexts that are relevant to the discussion. Stop trying to find the most insulting way to interpret something, and use less biased reasoning. >_o

You hardly have to have biased reasoning to feel insulted when someone says your country straight out "sucks". Also, where in the video does it even say it's common? I don't understand cantonese but the second video basically just stated they were disgusted by the actions of the people there, and were doing their best to investigate it. Seems to me that the people in the thread just started assuming that happened every other day.

This is quite a tragedy, the thing is it just happened to be in China.
It could equally have happened in another country.
The world has gone past the point to where money > life, and people are afraid to help because of
**** like this. (A Chinese woman who came to international attention after rescuing a 2-year-old girl run over by two cars and walked past by 18 people as she lay dying on the street has been forced to leave her home town after neighbours and others harassed her, saying she only did it for the fame.)
Last year, some old woman in NanJing fell down on the street and couldn't get up, and a college student helped her up, long story short, this old woman sued him blaming his ass for pushing her down in the first place and won. (Although thousands of eye witnesses were there and saw that's not what happened, but she still won the law suit)
Ever since then, I think about another dozen stories got on paper that the victim who (fell/got neck stuck in a short fence/choked on food/etc..) just died on the spot because no one wanted to help and get their ass sued.

This:
"Our benevolences are being worn down by those who bite the hands that feed them," a local housewife, Tang Shunjun, said on her microblog.
Another local woman surnamed Hu said she had witnessed an old man falling down from a bus in Shanghai last week, but no passer-by went to help him until he shouted, "I will blame nobody for my falling."
I can totally see why these people didn't help. Help that poor kid and society will blame the good samaritan for murder...
