Well, recently my brother got a new laptop. Everything works fine, well mostly, we do get a bit of FPS lag... but thats not the case.
Its Network-wise.
When we ping Tarlach's server, we get like 90ms on his computer, I get the same on mine.
He can also switch weapons as fast as me!
But... even though he has low ping, and can switch weapons fast, when trying to shoot arrows, it takes FOREVER to load the next ranged attack. Like he has 9325932498ms ping.
Also spamming space bar from combat mode and normal mode has super lag too. Picking up items in his inventory also has lag.
Long story short, he has low ping, can switch weapons super fast... but loading skills after another takes forever.:T_T:
Any idea on how to fix this? :what:
Edit: Its Windows Vista if that matters. > >

Are you using a wireless adapter with the laptop, or is it already in it?

First of all, is he an elf?
If so, try this :
Nexon Forums - (INTEL) Fix for elves
It tells mabinogi and other single core applications to only use one processor instead of multi threading. This therefore disables elf lag.

Its not elf lag, it also lags with other skills such as Bolt > Charge. Charge won't load after IceBolt until LONG AFTER.

Try changing the MTU a bit.

[FONT="Arial Narrow"][SIZE="3"]1. Does this happen with other games you downloaded?
(Excluding the FPS game you mentioned.)
If you notice potential lag in that game, it's your laptop's problem. If Mabinogi's the only thing lagging, then it's probably something having to do with Mabinogi.
2. What do you mean it "came" with wireless?
Wireless as in an internet stick (aka you plug it in and access instant Internet), wireless as in getting instant Internet but without the stick, etc?
Maybe the integrated connection is affecting your laptop's performance.
And what model is the laptop?

1) I don't play any other game other than Mabi, no way an FPS game O _O
2)Like... it came with Wireless compatibility. Like the wireless card or whatever already built in-side.
Forgot to change the title that I fixed the problem. We took it to a computer store and apparently the Wireless card inside was damaged, so we got a new Wireless adapter and everything is good now 8D

Windows Vista is crappy for games.
For me, I get a pre-startup message warning me that the Vista graphics card is 'unstable for client execution' or something. This adds an invisible 100-200ms lag. (Nagle disabled, btw)
Yeah, your graphic card is probably crappy. I have excellent ping and bad lag.

Really? I have absolutely no problems with vista when it comes to gaming.

Are there any side affects to this?

yea you computer uses cpu load balancing in order make programs faster (even if they are not dual core optimized), as a result you'll get more lag in crowded places because it reduces the cpu power by almost half. Plus, it is not guaranteed to work for everyone, and for those that really do think it works, it could very well just be the placebo effect.
