Alternatively, it would be more amusing to replace swears with random obscure words.
b**** = genius
f*** = bless
retard = saint
c**t = boink
c**k = neener
jesus = penis
pig = Muhammad
u mad = I'm so angry!
like = nibble
god = bacon
Christian = Satanic
Christianity = Paganism
mods = our unholy overlords
Then that would be biting off of Nexon Forum's previous retarded filter that changed every swear word into something pathetically stupid. Which is in fact, pathetically stupid.
I'm half and half on this. I couldn't give two sh*ts about the word filter because I bypass it anyway with my asterisks, but I don't see why it's against the rules to bypass it anyway. If even the site owner agrees that he would rather not have the word filter in effect and you're still being a tight ass about enforcing, "NO BYPASSING THE WORD FILTER", then there's obviously something irrational going on here.

That's actually bypassing the word censor and against the site rules at the moment. We, as mods, have to remove all of it. It's a real pain in the ass, man.
The third and fourth words you censored were never even censored, sadly.
:sigh:

Yeahhhhh... I have to go around and edit nearly every one of your posts at the moment...

I have no stance on this, as I have a different viewing on how words should be used.

I definitely agree with this, and I don't see a problem with it unless people start using the f-bomb after every word they write.
Stars are pretty annoying, and I'm pretty sure words like cunt and cock aren't even censored, when they probably should be. If you're going to have a censoring system, why not censor everything instead of just a few things?

I don't agree with removing the filters, but we'll have to see once the mods do it :what:
As for the OP's number 3:
If the URL has a bad word in it, change it there so it isn't censored that way.
I don't see any potential constructive gain or improvement from this either - if anything it's going to be negative, but I'll trust that most members will stay neutral with the use of these words.

I remember when I used to go on Gaiaonline they had this filter system on their forum where you could choose to have no filtering, minimal filtering, or maximum filtering.
If some people get offended by reading swear words, something like that could be implemented where you can choose to filter words or not.

I kind of feel like this'll happen, tbh. Like, new people who are crazy, or one member having a really really bad day.
Oh well. :U
and that's what infractions/bans are for

I got in trouble for bypassing it by changing where the asterisk should be to size 2

I tend to not swear, so I really don't have a stance about the filter.
We just have to rely on the community to be mature about this, and I think it'll be obvious if removing the filter will actually have an effect. To be honest, I don't see a tidal wave of swears happening just because the filter is removed.
I still don't like swearing, but that's just my personal stance on swearing in general.
