I find it hard that they wouldn't know anything about black people, unless this supermarket was in the boonies.

Are there like no black people in Korea or something? This would seem like it is the case.

yes
Korea's population is practically 99.95% Koreans
there's less black people in Korea than there are in Japan

I've met 1 black person in all my time in Korea.
Anyways, I love all my black friends. They're actually the nicest people I know.
But my mom would probably flip a table if I ever told her I'm marrying one.

other reasons than race:
Kitae's mom is convinced Kitae is ugly
if Kitae marries black lady, then she's convinced the children will be 100% ugly
because you know... Pale skin is the most ideal sign of beauty in Korea
due to the development of Korea's culture.
darker skin = farmers, and then transitioned to only tastes in beauty
this does not mean it's racist but rather they are less likely to find dark skin to be attractive

My dad would probably think otherwise. I mean, not about the whole skin thing, but the whole farmer thing. He's so into hard work. So a lazy guy like me probably pisses him off.
And I don't think my mom thinks I'm ugly. She just thinks I have no friends and I'm unsociable and tells me to get out more.
But then I try going out and she restricts me.
"NO LEAVING THE HOUSE AFTER DINNER RWARHIEAOR"
"BE BACK BY 11PM"
"DONT DRINK OR DO DRUGS OR GAMBLE"
"DONT TALK TO GIRLS"
I've broken all these rules. I'm a bad boy.

Doesn't she want you to get married or something? O-o

Well, black guy here. And I'm actually not surprised. I dunno, I must of been running into the wrong Asians but. Whenever I go to ANY type of Asian-type market. I get strange looks and the clerks follow me around like I'm a criminal or something.
Well, at least it isn't as bad as what happened earlier today when I was playing Bingo with my brother and a few friends. We won a bit of cash. And this elderly white man didn't want to actually give us the money in our hands. He kinda just gave us a disgusted look and put it on the table. Like he didn't want to touch our hands or something. Was pretty infuriating to see someone in this day and age act like that.
Anyway, back on topic: Yeah. I've seen things like this happen, but not on THAT scale. Are Black people just over-all hated/feared by every other ethnicity or something? :v

We have an asian supermarket in the mall here, and everyone in there is asian. I have never seen a black person in there, and occasionally we see white people. It's funny because there's barely any english words and they walk around trying to understand things o_o.

She always tells me that people should stop having children because mankind will end soon and children shouldn't have to suffer through it.

This is what I learned until I came to America.
And then I feared black people for about a year before I realized there actually isn't a problem.
My parents had the car break down 11 pm in Bronx back in the early 90s. They were scared to death ~_~

It's the media and stereotyping. The problem with stereotypes is not that it's untrue, it's that they are not complete.

according to Koreans, black people are dirty
if a black person attends a pool of Koreans (in Korea)
he would get a pool to himself
Just because their skin is brown? Such strange things.

I should to to Korea to troll people.
Though I'm only half black, and I don't have that dark of skin.
