Pencil, generally speaking when writing pencils are smoother and better to write with.
While pens. . I dunno, pens are rough to write with and that annoys me so much.

Depends. If I'm drawing or doodling, I prefer pencils. Otherwise, I love me some pens yo'.

Depends for what of course.
For drawing my main tools are 4B Staedtler pencil and assorted mechanical pencils.
For taking notes I usually use my 0.7mm mechanical pencil or a blue pen - depending on the subject and if I plan to use diagram style notes or just text.

Pen for writing. I honestly dislike the feel of the graphite grating against the surface of paper.
For pencils, I try to avoid traditional ones as they get blunt. I like fine points.
So I use .5mm mechanical pencils.
Unless you're filling scantron sheets. You want to use the most blunt pencil possible. You'd be amazed at how much time you cut from tests by doing this.

Pencils. I'll only use pens if I have to.
Usually mechanical pencils, too. My current favorite is actually a bit heavy since it has a lot of metal parts.

lol I lose all my good pens/pencils.
Longest retention I think was like 2 years. Was a fantastic pen I got in Korea. I miss it.

Pen. Oh God, pen always.
I rage so much if I write with pencil, seriously. That.. annoying *scratch scratch* sound that comes out of it when you write, AJFASKDFSHJJDKXGF
IT JUST MAKES ME WANNA KILL SOMEONE, PLEASE. ALL OF YOU.

I prefer mechanical pencils over pens. When my hands rub against the paper when I right fast, it's easier to wash graphite off then pen ink. Plus, graphite can be erased for quick error fixes (I hate the smell of White Out).

I MUST write in pen, everything except tests. And even then, I need to use mechanical pencils with the tips of the graphite always sharpened to a neat point. I just don't like the feel of pencils.
