Actually if you can land the smash, slow Scythe is better than faster ones, but some bosses are just too fast for a complete smash even if you slash air for the first 3 attacks.
And I wouldn't go for Lion. The point of + speed is consistent damage. And less balance pretty much is against consistent damage. I wouldn't get something that have contradictory stats.
It's not contradictory, though. Lionoteeth loses balance but gives the same attack speed boost and more M.ATT. I've said it before and I'll say it again: against enemies with very high DEF, ATT/M.ATT matters more than balance. This is because balance gets applied at the
very end of the damage formula, after your ATT/M.ATT is subtracted by the enemy's DEF. If the difference between your ATT/M.ATT and enemy DEF resulted in a very large number, then balance would have a profound impact on your final damage. But since this is not the case against the Episode 9 raid/hero bosses, which have exceedingly high DEF, the balance multiplier doesn't affect the end result a whole lot.
With that said, Rakrak shouldn't even come into question; Lionoteeth is a clear upgrade over it.

How much defense do you think the new raid bosses have?

Lionotus has 9.6k.
Dunno about the others.

All in all, you're going to have to +10 and slap some enchants on it anyway, once you hit 12k (M)att it won't matter as much. So far to me, Rakrak seems the best option if you're going to have it +10'd.

Hm, that explains why I usually do fifth place damage, stinking +3 Dreamwalker staff... I don't think I can get it to +10 without screwing it over.

Pay2win. Or extreme luck. It's possible.

Gah, I need to find a better game, or Nexon needs to try something different...

Hey I pay to win. :D
Hrm, I'm really still debating on which Scythe to get, is there a M. ATT cap? If so I might go for the Rakrak since it's really fast, Lionoteeth because it's pretty pricey to craft. . .
Contenders are Rakrak and Scythe of Caress.

The damage numbers for Lionotus are all over the place if you ask me.
Whenever I'm on my Evie I pick scythe and just spam Demon Splitter and Life Drain. Seriously. Occasionally I might try for an Invisible Loom if I can get one off, but even then I hold the Bloody Thread snap in for when he's on the ledge in case I'm not there (or no one else is) so he falls easier, or throw mines up on the ledge. But other than that, Demon Splitter and Life Drain.
I got top damage once, doing that. Spamming Demon Splitter with sub 9.6k physical ATT. I have no god damn clue how that happened.

MATT cap is 10k above the enemy's DEF.
So around anything above 24k ATT/MATT is useless at this point since I believe hero Chiulin has the most DEF at 14k.

the last person to attack lionotus before he fell down the cliff gets the credit for the fall damage, about half a bar worth.
personally i don't really care about rankings anyways...

I've run the numbers through the formula, and calculated the break-even points of the Rakrak Claw compared to the Lionoteeth.
Assumption:
Damage (Magic) = ((Magic Attack - Defense) + 900 + extra damage * 6.25) * Ratio * (1 + mastery% + Skill%) * Balance
ÂFor the following statements, I'm ignoring the extra damage (as it is dependent on the enhancement level of the weapon, and having a higher extra damage would only make a higher balance more beneficial).
The Rakrak Claw is equal to or better than Lionoteeth for average damage dealt
when:
a) your magic attack is at least 1,318 points higher than the enemy's defense, or
b) your magic attack is at least 342 points less than the enemy's defense with a Rakrak Claw.
Examples:
a) If Lionotus' defense is 9,600 then it would only take a magic attack of 10,918 to deal more damage with the Rakrak Claw than with the 11,493 that you'd have with a Lionoteeth at the same enhancement level. Most bosses have much less defense (on Normal/Hard and even most Hero).
b) On the flip side, if you're faced with Hero mode bosses who have at least 342 more defense than you have magic attack, you're better off keeping the Rakrak Claw again, because you'll get 68% of 900 (the base damage) on average instead of 54% of 1,133 or less.
tl;dr version:
In summary, there is a range of magic attack (~1,660 points) where the Lionoteeth will do better, but EVERYTHING outside that range will be outshined by the Rakrak Claw, which would almost certainly include your magic attack when you're transformed.
