Did some quick calculations.
With the Merchant Destiny, getting failures is no longer required - you can now hit 100 training without failures at all.
God my life is gonna be so much easier. Also means I can hold off on Refining too, since I'm too impatient to sit in front of a pyre all day. I'd rather go kill stuff.
EDIT: I'm an idiot, read three posts down.

My refining's already rank 2. 85%. xD Oh wells.. I have low dex anyways.

Are you sure? Wiki success rates for refine for a lot of ranks don't add up to 100 prof.
If you get a max of 30 success in that rank for 50 prof, having merchant destiny means you need only 15 success to get that 50 prof. After that, none of the successes count.

...Hm, I need to think this over again. I think you're right.
At least it requires less fails?
But I'm still holding off on Refining.

With merchant destiny, all lifeskills will be a lot easier... especially when Merchant + Double Rainbow + Life skill pots.

I'm seriously considering not ranking it at all since it's not the kind of skill that agrees with me (I have no patience).
But everyone insists on doing it early. orz

remember destiny just increases the amount of completed tasks you have done for the skill (you get 2 instead of 1, like 2/20 Refine Iron Ore 1.00).
Now if you want to increase how much the task is worth....metalwear a glove to do your bidding!

If you have no patience for Refining you're going to detest Weaving, Handicraft, Blacksmithing, or Tailoring.

Why you be trollin'?
But yeah... Merchant Destiny only gives you two training for one, that's it. This means you would be allowed to do HALF the work you would need to do for rank up, but you will STILL need to do those mythril fails.
As others said, if you don't have the patience to get through refining, you're really going to hate Weaving (100 Finest Silk creations which require about 800 stacks of Thin Threads), Blacksmithing (THOUSANDS of expensive material), and Tailoring (Which needs a good support from Weaving). These are the actual life skills that get you money, too =P

Yeah, my elf needs to do Refining. So f*cking boring too, I got him to R1 with the amount of ores that was in the market before the rollback, but then ROLLBACK and I had no more D:

As long as you either have the money for the ores or you can collect them yourself, Refining is a cake walk from rF -> r9. Then some of the ranks become more of a b*tch, but the last 2-3 ranks are also cake walks.
It's super easy compared to Weaving, Tailoring and all those other tedious arse life skills.
