Why the hell do people think they have the right to try for an internship with a major company... If they don't have the knowledge or skills required for the internship?
I got held over at work for about a hour, all because NONE of the interns that were accepted into our program knew what they were doing.
This is exactly why I dislike taking prolonged overdue vacations, because my work doesn't seed out enough of the retards.

I have a huge suggestion for you: Stay out of my topics.
If I wanted a dumb post, I'd have just asked said interns earlier.

This makes me think of the TV show Scrubs.

To be fair... You're posting about semi-serious issues at a gaming forum where people like those very interns come to waste their time instead of learning new things. =P
I'm on an internship myself actually, and am often frustrated with the other intern =/ Some people have no sense of responsibility.

This isn't actually all this serious, but having some post something completely stupid in the thread just wastes everyones time when they view a thread that they might potentially relate to (You and Osay as an example).
I've actually had interns I've genuinely liked, though there haven't been many, because they think just because I'm around the same age as them/younger than them, I'm likely to let them get away with things. I have 13 years of experience in my field of expertise (Network Administrationi / System Defense and Network Security), and I do not let people good off while working, the main reason because it can cost the company a lot of clients.
Out of the 30 interns, none of them were able to do basic administration, and 10 of them caused major issues (One system wiped, one locked down the VPN (I have them practice on VPN's) and others just did many things that could have ruined servers). This is probably the worst batch of interns I've met, and its all because I've been working from home doing mostly paperwork since the last internship season.
Sad thing is, all these people are university graduates, or from technical schools.

You're suppose to get -real- experience in the field you want to work in, however you're expected to know what to do, and just need basic help. Most internships last ~3-4 months, whereas ours lasts 6 months, half of which is to teach and monitor, the other 3 is to give them a chance to gain what they need to learn by themselves.

Cry more QQ
Can't you tell them that their all stupid, and the guy who let em in wasn't thinking straight, and that none of em deserve to be there. They'd think your an ass but they might whip up (maybe...)

My friends and I all want internships to LOOK GOOD ON OUR COLLEGE APPLICATIONS.
There's also some money thrown in, but yeah, it's just so that we can get a trophy to hang on our wall.
I'm doing a Biology internship that I'm actually interested in as well, but many business majors are interning at my place.

I told them if they didn't do well within the next two days, I'd be removing them from the program.
The person in charge didn't put much effort into it, and we don't get along that well either (Mostly because he does a poor job at everything he does).
Our internship is a learn to work program. You learn how our company works, you learn how to do specific things to the career, and you have a chance to earn a job with us, or with one of our partners (Every ISP and data center in the United States buys from my work).
You also get paid $15-25 (I don't remember what it is, but it was $15 when I started working there) per hour, and we'll work around your schedule (I work 12-14 hour shifts during the internship program).
We get a lot of people who are just not qualified to be working in the field we're in, and sometimes they slip through, whether it be because they bs'd answers, or because they were given benefit of the doubt to get in.
This time was just pure laziness on the part of my co-worker.
