If you guys want to debate or argue(civilly, of course) go to the Spam Zone or General Discussions->Debate. From now on, please just use this thread to ask questions about content. If you need to ask us if some content you want to post is appropriate, feel free to PM a staff member as well.
I figure that the debate section might be a better place for civil talk on the matter.
lets get the important references down first...
Relevant rules:
- Do not post Porn or Hentai - Also restricted from being in your avatar or signature.
- Keep things PG-13 on the forums, and be aware that Moderators can remove content at their own discretion. Such content that is not allowed would be:
Blatantly or extremely suggestive sexual imagery.
- Profane and excessively inappropriate language.
- Messages or pictures that depict violence in bad taste.
Relevant quotes:
Mentioning things like yaoi, yuri and loli(for some clear examples) are expected to be brief statements and will not lead nor be devoted to full conversations. As for media like videos and audio, please ensure that is appropriate for all ages to enjoy. If it includes large uses of swears, sex and other inappropriate content please avoid posting it.
And as for the PG-13 rule, if you're not sure what's appropriate or not, then think along this guideline:
If it's something that would get you in trouble while you are in middle school, then don't post it. Seems pretty simple to me.
Since there's an emphasis on the rating PG-13, let's define that:
PG-13 - Parents Strongly Cautioned - Some material may be inappropriate for children under 13. Films given this rating may contain sexual content, brief or partial nudity, some strong language and innuendo, humor, mature themes, political themes, terror and/or intense action violence. However, bloodshed is rarely present. This is the minimum rating at which drug content is present; with the exception of Austin Powers and Click. Marijuana smoking is the only illegal drug use that can be depicted in a PG-13 movie, with the exception of Forrest Gump, in which a brief scene depicts an actress snorting cocaine. While PG-13 films usually have more profanity than PG films, this is not necessarily the case. A film that is given a PG-13 rating due to profane language and/or racial insults is given this rating because it contains more of these elements than a PG rating would permit, or the film contains uses of stronger profanities than a PG would permit. A film rated PG-13 for "intense violence" is given this rating if blood is present in a violent way. In recent years, this rating has been used for the majority of American films released.[12]
Examples of PG-13 movies from a bored google search: please find me more because short list is short
- Titanic full nudity, sex scene
- Bringing Down the House rampant sexual humor
- Sixteen Candles (actually a PG rating)
- Mean Girls
- The Twilight Saga: Eclipse lol
In practice
- What doesn't fly
- Drawn pictures of relatively exposed women
- Talking about how experienced a girl might be/one night stands

As an aside, from both of the thread on the "do not fly" list seem to find the intention of the original poster as important. Is there a new rule that we have to stay on topic in the spam section...?

now that the references are out of the way...
Debate Topic
What do you think is included under a PG-13 rating?
Do you think Mabination should adhere to a PG-13 rating? Is sexual content a problem?
What content do you want to be on Mabination?
Do you think that current enforcement reflect the rules of a PG-13 rating?
An aside: I wrote this up pretty quick, so if there are any other things I should be linking in the first post, please let me know~ I'm keeping my own opinion out of this first post, as much as I can anyway.

If some sexual content is allowed in a PG-13 movie and were basically going by that rating, then yeah I don't see a problem with some talk that includes sexual innuendo. If it gets out of hand or too much then yeah Mods can step in.
I just think this is all a lil bit ridiculous cause too many people are complaining of /b/ when they have the option to go into /b/ or not XD But I do think it should be well enforced in the other sections to the forum.

Well.....Since I AM 13 I can honestly say that as far as Im concerned, as long as like porn isnt posted or like really detailed talk of that nature, It seems fine....I mean, who REALLY hasn't seen or heard that stuff before, Im not saying its bad or anything, just for the sake of people who dont feel like going to a site full of it......And if theres a curse word, Ive said it at least 10 times, sooooo cursing seems a little weird, I mean, its just a word, as long as its not like derogatory I dont see the problem....Thats my small opinion, just cause Im kinda bored right now...So you guys need to post your page long posts and arguments so I can actually respond to something specifically.

Honestly have yet to see anyone breaking the PG13 content so far.
Seen some deletes from moderators, but those weren't anything that were like "on the line" or arguable.
Everything everyone complains about is still in the PG13 group imo.

Erotic lingerie isn't allowed
and that's fine.
The cat posted that because it was a homage to No More Heroes.
hmm..
Anything above this PG13 can be like mentioning genitals, discussing sex, F-bombs, not sure what else.
Suggestive images maybe?

My understanding is that from the rules and in the context of PG-13, sexuality can be discussed lightly, and definitely not in explicit detail. Currently, there seems to be a ban of any posts or content which indicates a more 'personal' attraction on the sexual level, which is contradictory towards the currently defined rules. Thus, I would greatly appreciate if the rules were better defined.
I was given an infraction, because when Kita posted an image of a cute girl, I said I prefer a different kind of woman-- one with experience. It lead to talk about dating viability, and then sexual experience, but in my own opinion, this talk was not vulgar, excessive, or in bad taste. All of the posts were brief statements, and not really a full conversation. It was also in /b/.

That doesnt sound like it should be against the rules...? If thats not "acceptable to everyone" or something, and thats why you got in trouble, maybe some like warning system should be put into action so those peoples who would be offended dont go to that thread? Idk, just seems weird that thats not acceptable to me....

Just going to jump in to say that the staff still have to establish what we should remove and what shouldn't. If you think someone was unfair, please contact a staff member(separate from the one who gave you the infraction).

i think /b/ section should be closed to members under certain age and no longer advertised on the recent post section.
Clearly we see why we are getting a problem from contents of a thread being inappropriate. There are only two posts that relate to mabinogi out of 10 recent posts.
If we make it so that /b/ section is not advertised, the usual people who go to that section will be content since they will be able to talk about adult materials and young innocent kids who came to mabination to learn about mabinogi won't be exposed to adult materials.

^Those threads are from the General Discussion section, if you look at all the new posts made today you'd see ALOT more Mabinogi related ones and not just /b/ ones

well what i have noticed lately is that in the recent posts section, i am seeing less and less mabinogi related posts and more general posts.
maybe it is because we know so much about mabinogi that there is nothing to talk about.
*back to topic, what im suggesting could make both the mods and /b/ers happy. Open discussion and explicit materials not exposed

Some of the biggest recent threads were Mabinogi related, and not like you are making an effort by making Mabinogi related topics. :I

There are also alot of people over here who quit/hiatus on mabi. If we stayed even after we quit, it'd be normal that there is less and less mabi related content.
