The players must have been so pissed off after that happened. Something worse than Nexon, I never knew something like that was even possible until I read this, lol. I bet so many people are fed up with what they did, especially if they spent some cash on the game, or lots of it.
It really sucks for the people to not have their data be able to be backed up.

I'm worried this will happen to all the locked out characters in Mabinogi. Data won't be restored...
On the side note...

How do you delete an entire MMORPG?
I am extremely dumbfounded.

Quote from Electricvio;656790:
If Nexon accidentally deleted MapleStory.... Let's just say a LOT of s*** would go down ._.
I feel kinda cruel, but I would laugh so hard if that happened. D:
But yeah... that's horrible to hear. >< Must've been imagining how many players was so pissed off at this. :/

anyone would agree that losing important data due to some defective memory card or a crashing hard drive is one of the most frustrating things in the history of ever. Unfortunately it's something that almost everyone of us experiences at least once in their lives. Although in the end it's not a big deal, since you've listened to someone who already went through this ordeal and thus made backups of all your important files. Right?
Right?
Well...Japanese company Sankando sure didn't. But we're not talking about lost emails, logs or save files. We're talking about an entire MMO.
Yes. An entire MMO has vanished in a server crash.
On Oct 21 20pm local time, the servers of the MMORPG M2 had to be taken offline for emergency maintenance, due so some "fatal defect". About 20 days later, the game's operator Hangame issued the following statement:
"We worked with Sankando to restore the service, but retrieving the data proved difficult. Although extremely regrettable, we couldn't help but arrive at the decision to terminate the service."
Meaning, quite simply, that they lost all the game data and did not have any backups to restore it. Nice job. The game was free to play but supported by microtransactions, meaning that quite a lot of players didn't just lose their digital stuff, but also real money.
