Since I'm already R1 Alchemy Mastery and Barrier Spikes (not in a big hurry for master title), I was thinking on what else to do to make my alchemy experience much more enjoyable.
I'm probably going to split half of my AP per rebirth to complete up defence/AR/FH, and then use the other half for something fun.
Kitae posted a list of excellent and good alchemy...but it's at the old forums and I don't want to go back there. So I'm relying on memory.
I remembered on the list that golem is on the good. I'm not that interested in golem as well after seeing how laggy the controls are for me. A lot of people recommended golem for me, however it's probably not something that I want to rank up right now since I can't use it right away. I find that the attack range is also very limited and the crystals are tough to prepare as the rank goes up.
So I was thinking about life drain. I'm not sure what kitae listed this as. How useful is this? I've seen people replenishing their HP with this and it looks useful with Peaca or monsters that are extremely tough.
How easy is it to get the ingredients for life drain crystals? Do the mystic pearls stack?
For certain that I will be ranking up synthesis, but I want to rank this along with metallurgy and that will take some time as I'm really tight on AP.
Skills that are a no: Mana crystallization (only ranking this along with magic), Fragmentation (I'll do this only after synthesis), Sand Burst (it's not that practical)
Or what other skills are there that I can consider?

Life Drain is very useful.
I'd also suggest... Hmm. Frozen Blast and Metal Conversion, probably. All the skills have all their positives and negatives, it's really up to you.

Life Drain is extremely useful when you're going against enemies with high def/prot. The materials for the crystals aren't really that hard to get, though the success rate for making the crystals starts out very low. And yes, the pearls stack.
If you plan to fight with Alchemy, you should get Water Cannon, possibly along with Rain Casting. If not, you could try going for Frozen Blast as support for your other fighting styles.

Besides Golem (which is more of a Melee-type Alchemy skill), I would suggest venturing into Water Cannon.
It gets so many boosts, especially with Rain Casting, Tower Cylinders (or Water Cylinders + upgrades) and the future Chain Cylinder, that you don't wanna pass that up.
Flame Burst is also a nice skill as it ignores Protection when calculating criticals.
Frozen Blast is another option. Although quite AP-expensive, higher ranks of Alchemy Mastery boosts the time the freeze duration lasts. Be wary, however, as the skill's success rate seems to depend on Combat Power. It will not work always and it leaves you right open for an attack if you miss. (Can't cancel the skill animation, have to wait 'til it's finished.)
What else is there?
Oh Spark and Life Drain, yes?
Dunno too much about the former, but Life Drain is an excellent skill. Rank 1 (with Rank 1 Alchemy Mastery) heals a ton load of HP, I bet. Plus, it deals amazing knockback damage. Also, sorta AP-expensive.
I would go for Water Cannon or Life Drain first. Personally, I lean more towards Cannon.

I think you should either work on Life Drain or Water Cannon. The former takes over 300 ap though but otherwise, it deals great damage to one enemy and heals you. Water cannon is a very good attack alchemy skill when used and setup properly.

Life Drain or Spark.
If this is based on usefulness.
Water Cannon is not a bad choice either.

From what I hear from foreign servers, don't rank water cannon because
even with chain casting, they don't do much damage in hard mode unless you have bunch of expensive alchemy enchants on your equipments.
but water cannon is a good skill for beginners as they cause high damage for low aps

As for mystic pearls, just leaving several mules fishing at that lake where Neid is will give you a lot of crystals. Getting Water Cannon to r1 is good for triggering Shadow Hunter enchant though.
Life Drain (at least up to r6) is actually really easy to rank up once you have the crystals. How about Barrier Spike? It is a good alchemy skills when you feel like hiding behind something when there is a lot of lag.

Go for water cannon or Frozen Blast.
Water for damage or Blast for...Freezing stuff? I cant think of anything besides team play with that one but a good skill none the less.

Hmm...
I would rank up Spark, Flame Burst, or Water Cannon if I were you.
My friend can do over 1k damages with full charges at r6 Flame Burst already.

I don't know now if it is a good plan or not, but this is what I'm going to do. I'm going to rank all the skills to at least Rank F.
After testing Life Drain, I think I'll reserve it for much later when I have a lot more crystals and AP.
I will also need to get Flame Burst and Frozen Blast first (don't have them), meaning that I need Water Cannon A and Wind Blast D.
Flame Burst seems like a good skill to have, with not too much AP required, in addition there's no stat CP (I see it as a bonus) so it'll be good to train it now. It's fine even if wiki says it can't go through wall, it can (just that it will still damage the barrier but there's so much wall HP at R1) and there's knockback which I really like.
