The ONLY websites that won't load

This is an archive of the mabination.com forums which were active from 2010 to 2018. You can not register, post or otherwise interact with the site other than browsing the content for historical purposes. The content is provided as-is, from the moment of the last backup taken of the database in 2019. Image and video embeds are disabled on purpose and represented textually since most of those links are dead.

Okay, so I was trying to get to a couple forums hosted by proboards, but for some reason, I can't. I've tried to on IE, firefox, Safari, and Chrome. However, Chrome is the only one that can actually access it and that's ONLY if I use the "cached copy" option. At first, I thought that there must have been a problem with proboards, but the thing is, I asked my friends if they can get to the forums and they said they could just fine, so something is going on on my end. I have no idea what the problem could be since I've always been able to access them just fine. That and the proboards forums are the ONLY ones I can't get to. I can also load proboards.com just fine; it's just the forums that are hosted by them. I can access all other websites except those. I checked my antivirus settings and that's not blocking it. I restarted my computer and that didn't work. I really want to get this fixed because I can't log in or post anything on those forums since Chrome is basically just showing me a screenshot when it loads it.
I'm scanning my computer right now as well, but I don't really think that a virus is the cause for this if I can access everything else. And as I stated before, there's nothing wrong with proboards because my friends can get there just fine. I'm the only one who can't.

Raise your MTU to 1500?

Low MTU doesnt allow you to access some websites (Dragon Nest homepage is one)

In the future,

ipconfig /flushdns

and don't use your ISPs DNS servers. Use something like google's or OpenDNS.

Somewhat off topic but how much better is using an open DNS server compared to an isp one?

Is it because the isp servers can be used to block content? Or because they are slower?

They can block content at the ISPs discretion, and ISP DNS servers aren't particularly known for being reliable, whereas OpenDNS sole reason for existence is providing DNS services, and they apparently have 100% uptime since they started out. ISP DNS servers also have a tendency of updating slower, so if a service or website you use changes IP address, you might not be able to access it while someone using OpenDNS or Google will be fine within anywhere from minutes to a couple hours max.

Both Google and OpenDNS respect the TTL in a DNS record, many ISPs don't and cache it for up to days at a time to save on resources (since their purpose is not DNS services, they don't dedicate themselves to it). OpenDNS can also be updated at users request: http://www.opendns.com/support/cache/

I use both google's servers
8.8.8.8
8.8.4.4

and one OpenDNS server as 3rd place in case google didn't work out:

Ahh thanks. I went out and tried to do some research but nothing i found explained it that clearly.
