Do Dragon attacks have elemental properties? Meaning...
Desert Dragon Fireball = Fire?
Red Dragon Fire Breath = Fire?
Red Dragon Thunderstorm = Lightning?
Red Dragon Meteor Shower = Physical?
I remember messing around with Ice Mines as soon as the Alchemist update came out, and got surprised with 320 damage despite wearing full Ice gear. I've never seen nor heard of anybody using Fire or Lightning sets against Dragons, is it because the attacks are non-elemental? Or are people just too lazy to prevent 15,000 damage instant-death?
I know Magic Shields reduce the damage (or do they?), but explosions from self-destruct mobs are reduced from Magic Fire Shield but not negated by full Fire Resistance. Dark Rat Men are also Fire-type, despite casting Lightningbolt. I figured this might be another one of those quirks in logic.

I remember that Red Dragon Thunderstorm is a lightning elemental attack, because it could be avoided with 3 magic thunder shields.
I think people don't bother with elementals on dragons because hey can't make a big enough difference in the damage and dragons don't have any elements themselves(?)

Only thing I know is that the G9 Final boss has no elemental. Even though it's red.

there was an idea where a group of people could use fire shield all at the same time on a dragon fireball, but it has never been tested... Perhaps i'll get my guild to try ;D
It would be so awesome if we can decrease the dmg from over 10000 > 15. so pro

Just tested it today.
Dragon Fireballs are NOT Fire-type.
Meaning, enchanting Fire on all 9 equip slots does not reduce any damage.
Reduction may still apply from Magic Fire Shield, but that's a test for another day.

I recall on the official NA Mabinogi strategy guide for Crumena...
Mabinogi - FREE Fantasy Life
Some elemental "recommendations" from the guide:
Quote from Official NA Mabinogi strategy guide:
Lightning can be defended against using a Lightning Shield and damage will be lessened if many players use the Lightning Shield together.
Quote from Official NA Mabinogi strategy guide:
Also, you can inflict higher than normal damage by successfully using an attack with ice properties right before he uses Fire Breath or by attacking his head when he is howling.
Not sure if these work. Personally, whenever a Red Dragon uses Thunderstorm, I'd just ride away. There's too much... coordination/positioning required to use overlapping Magic Lightning Shields.

The lightning shield might be good to have for that particular boss fight though since its near impossible to dodge. Still, your probably gonna die a few times before you beat him, unless you've got a lot of high level tanks on your team. I do remember seeing a video on Youtube where a group of NA players finished the boss in about a minute, so I guess its possible.

It's been known for a long time that Dragon Fireball is not Fire-elemental. Rain of Thunder may be elemental, but as Zid said, riding away just plain works better than trying to time a bunch of overlapping shields. If it is indeed elemental, then it's pretty obvious that enchanting all nine equipment slots with Lightning will completely nullify the attack. Next time someone does a G8 Final, give that a shot?
Also, "Physical" is not an element; it is used to denote the absence of an element. If you wanted to consider it an "element" with elemental properties, all non-elemental gear is 100% Physical and all Physical-element attacks do 100% of their normal damage against all other elements, including Physical itself.

My theory is that, althought 9/9 elemental gear does not reduce any damage from the attacks, they still hold the elemental property which gets negated by Shields (like self-destruct). While it's a huge hassle to run to one spot and stack Shields, there are always around 10-20 people who dye from the Fireball because they don't have a flying pet or their pet is on cooldown. If it's possible to stack a few shields and attain 100% resistance then it's worth a shot, especially for Rain of Thunder which is almost unavoidable unless you go an
extremely great distance away.
And I was just naming Physical as opposed to, say, Lightning. I thought it may have been Lightning-type before I remembered it causes 100% Injury and elements can't injure.

The red dragon is a no Fly Zone so in order to use a flying pet you have to MOD it. No thanks. Just use the L rod function and dig a hole. Easiest way to aviod red fireball.

The no-fly zone is not that large, and the dragon has been known to leave that area. It's not that you're not allowed to fly there, it's that you're not allowed to take off or land there, similar to the base of the waterfall in Courcle and other areas. You can just ride away and then get on a flying mount once you've left the zone.

Red Dragon doesn't even have Fireball. I was talking about Desert Dragon.
