So My Co-Worker Just Texted Me

  I envy Christian. I wouldn't turn down an opportunity to get more hours in if the chance arises, even if it's on my only day off I have in the week, because I do need the money. Would I rather sleep in? Sure, because I do work 6 days a week. But given the opportunity, I would take that person's hours.
  
  Not only do I get more money in my wallet, but I also get some brownie points with the higher ups, meaning that if there needs to be a staff cut, I won't be someone that will get the boot because I'm willing to work, even on my day off [s]excluding the fact that I can work pretty much any position but managerial in my store[/s]. That extra layer of job security to me sounds a lot better than a day off to sleep in.

  I used to cover all the time.
  
  I flooded, and I had to call out a little bit after the flood since we had to clean all the mud out of our house and stuff. Same day they had double truck, I couldn't get anyone to cover. I didn't make it I thought my house was more important than my minimum wage job. I called out 8 hours before my shift though, not 24-hours I know, but it was the amount of time I was given notice that I had to come help us take care of house. They actually wrote me up, and gave me a scolding.
  
  
  I wrote a thread about this before. Basically they said I needed to call some people to cover for me, and I asked for numbers and my manager said it was my responsiblity not his. I go to work and get written up by a different manager and he tells me they will gladly give me numbers of other employees so I have someone to cover for me. After I told him what my manager said he sorta skipped subjects. After that I don't really cover for them anymore.
  
  
  Also, I've called out without a cover before and they've never written me up, so he was doing it out of spite or something.
