I believe in out of range SoG. I've seen it done and I've done it before as well (with a crossbow). It's more of a "mess around" and "for teh lulz" sort of thing though. I don't think anyone can do it consistently. :p
In-range SoG though...bunch of bull. The aim meter is going when you use "in-range SoG." If it hits, it's because you got lucky with that aim %. Not because you pulled SoG off correctly. Same applies for when it doesn't. Most "SoG" shots are made when your aim is at around 60% or so. Shots are more likely to hit in a favorable %; basic logic right there. I'll admit that I've had times where I seem to pull off hit after hit when spamming range, but it's all based on chance in my eyes. That aim meter is always running afterall.
I do have something that I guess can be seen as "SoG" though I just prefer to call it something completely different: "Rhythmic Shot" or "Rhythmic Shooting." Letting shots fly in fixed intervals. A mix between accuracy and speed. Once you find it, you enter a zen-like state where shooting becomes a very smooth process. It never feels clumsy or uneven. There are misses in there, it's range after all, but your continuous volley of shots covers for them right away.

In my previous post I explained why out of range shots aren't necessarily sog. What's striking is that people claim to land perfect frame sogs in range 10+ times in a row but no one can reproduce it 2x out of range, which lends credence to the theory that in range sog is just luck and out of range sog is just a low base chance playing out over many attempts.
Rhythmic shot should not be considered sog because it isn't based on frame hax rates.

In range, I always hit around 40%... a few feet out of range it's about 44%[Timed it for those who want to know]
Far out of range, it's about 50-60% depending on the lag.
Oh, and SoG is real. "God Shot" is patched.

What are your sog success rates in and out of range?
