Possible Reason for the Vindictus Hacking Epidemic

  Impersonating someone by ganking info from incoming packets is more believable, although I'm skeptical on that one since I don't know how the source engine/Vindictus handles its p2p connection. Maybe one of these days I'll actually get around to connecting my laptop to my router directly to see what exactly is being sent over the wire, since I did also want to check what's being sent to their website during a login at one point.
  
  
  Actually, thinking this over a bit, the latter does make some amount of sense, since it would at least partially explain why when a host randomly lag spikes, a hammer Fiona might turn into a sword Fiona, or large shields might turn into small shields.

  
  this used to happen all the time to scythe Evies and spear Lanns with lag spikes , scythe attacks turn into staff and spear turn into sword, but i haven't seen it happen since the staff revamp.
  
  as for the hacking it's quite possible that the new forums have a security loophole, because the forums is now integrated into the website it's possible the hacker can get your user info though it even if you don't use the forums.
  it's also possible than nexon's database got hacked, they just had a large security breach in maple kr so i wouldn't be surprised if it's happening with NA vind.

  Well, not PUGing can just be another security step we can take, no one wants to run the risk of getting hacked. Warn everyone, host your own boats, be careful out there.

  Yeah it happened to me a few times, when I was on large shield it suddenly did the small shield animations and wouldn't stay in HS when I was hit with a smash...that and when I was on my evie(scythe in this particular dungeon) I was suddenly changed to staff. I thought it was just a glitch, and part of me still thinks it is but I'm not so sure...

  You can also get the fail shield by not bringing a shield and then using transformation. It will act like a small shield that you can't counter with, but it will keep you from getting hurt.

  Its something ingame for sure, I mean, My Main Nexon.Net account Posting one i only Play Atlantica and Sudden Attack on it.
  The one i use for Dragon Nest and Vindictus are the ones that i never log on forums.
  
  And most hacked players do not log on website/have a forum account even.
  And it's the only Nexon Game haveing a hackwave as the other Nexon games i stated have been fine.
  
  So its something to do with the game itself i think in my humble opinion.
  
  But yes the Anti Virus excuse is funny hehe, Yeah right, Im sure some players play other games and they only lose there Vindictus account, and for example they could have all of other nexon games installed the "hacker" wouldn't touch them eh? Thats just pure trolling.
  
  We know some aint inocent and cheat, If it was a hacker hacking cheaters all would be cool, But the thing is many inocent players are being affected by this issue, so its something much more serious/worser.

  The same thing happened to Nexon KR, and I believe Nexon NA has lesser internet security than that of Nexon KR.
  
  If it's boat, or something in game, then people who are gone for a long time wouldn't have gotten hacked.
  
  If you connect the dots, and see how many people are hacked in maplestory, DFO, combat arms, you will know it's nexon own security loophole in their data base.

  The whole database accusation really makes me wonder what is in their database to begin with, since a lot of people are saying it's a DB thing.
  
  Because you don't store raw passwords in a database unless you're stupid. I would hope Nexon is not that stupid because that would honestly be straight up pathetic.
