Don't resist arrest - don't get punched. Not that hard, dumb *****.
The attack in the jail cell was pretty ridiculous, though.

No. Don't punch someone in the face. And she's a girl, I'm preeeeeetty sure he could've forced her in the car without violent aggression.
And I dunno how their rules are, but I've never gotten arrested for jaywalking? What kind of crap is that?

You clearly know what I meant.
To throw you in a car, I don't need to punch you in the face first. Especially when the only "crime" you've committed is jaywalking and in front of tons of people. That just makes me look terribly bad.
If she had robbed a store or something, sure. Punch her in the face. Do anything you must to not let her escape, but jaywalking really?
That's using too much force, too much violence. For what? What's the purpose anyway? To let her out of jail the next day with bail and a fine for jaywalking?
Really?

I'm not saying the officer was right, but why isn't anyone acknowledging the fact that these women were behaving entirely out of control? You get confronted by the police, you cooperate, you do not yell and push them off of you or fight them no matter how petty the charge is, because you're only going to make it worse. That is called resisting arrest, possible assault on an officer, and other charges. Why is it so hard for the two of them to refrain from behaving the way they were? He wasn't right for punching anyone, but at the same time, they were very clearly out of line. I feel like it was that, or a taser, or to have other officers step in and force them both to the ground. Had they bothered to hold still and act like decent human beings, no brutality would have to come about in the first place. Jaywalking charge, yeah, stupid, but it doesn't justify acting like a punk. She stepped in and pushed that officer back off of whom I am assuming is her mother - what was she thinking?
That being said, it also doesn't justify saying something like 'the police suck' 'screw pigs' etc etc - because this is one man dealing with two very unruly people on his own who happened to make a bad choice, but I honestly can't even think of what I'd do if I were in his shoes trying to deal with two people screaming and fighting other than to use some kind of serious force. His actions are wrong but so are the womens'. Everyone in this situation is wrong, lol. I can't be the only one who picked up on the fact that both of these women were not behaving decently, can I? (Ohai Shan. Sense, you make it!)

Personally, I think most cops think they can do whatever the heck they want simply because they're on the force. It drives me crazy. Ever watched cops on tv? I have yet to see one NOT swear like crazy at another person, for no reason, then be totally calm talking to the cameras. They are also extremely violent when they really don't need to be. When you catch a criminal, you don't need to purposely try to break his or her limbs just because the person ran from you for a while. They usually give up when they're caught anyway.
Cops get away with too much.

You are right. Everyone in the first clip was behaving in an unruly manner.
I just really cannot stand police officers. It is wrong to generalize, I know. And I too know that they do a great job for our communities, but some of them do things and act in ways that are completely unnecessary.
The women should have cooperated, yes. But did the police officer really have to stop them for jaywalking? I've never been stopped. But hey, different cities, different rules.

This.
Also, do you know that a cop cannot tell you to turn off your videocam? It is perfectly in your
legal right to videotape or take pictures of someone getting arrested.
They can take you in for this definitely, but you haven't done anything wrong. They just tell you to turn it off because sometimes they do/say things that are wrong or unacceptable.

I think it's wrong to generalize based on a few videos online. You have to imagine how many instances (countless, really) that any given police officer in the US has to deal with someone. Then compare that to the, what, 5-10 out of the ordinary videos that find their way on Youtube of a cop overreacting.
It's a hard job and the great thing about it is that they don't need your approval to do it. Every officer has their own way of dealing with situations. It's not our place to judge, because all we see is those 15 seconds. Nor can we really even make out everything that's being said (at least not clearly).
Sometimes, yeah, it's easy to say "that was completely wrong". But it's rare. Especially compared to the (again, countless) instances of an officer dealing with a civilian.

Still don't like cops. I know it's wrong, but eh.
Not all of their methods are ones I agree with. Like a link posted back in the Guru I think about a little girl getting arrested for doodling on her desk.
Honestly, the cops shouldn't have even shown up. Showing up and taking that little girl in handcuffs was wrong. But it was more the school's fault for calling the police.
But it's all good. I always cooperate with the police, but they just anger me so much. They get away with too much. Run red lights just because they can, instill fear into people just because they can... even if they're not doing it on purpose.
I love how police officers can drag you on the floor and push you all they want, but as soon as you lay a hand on them or even push them back a little, it's an assault. Love it.
Edit: Also, I hate it when police officers use brute force to stop a strike. Like, really? It's unnecessary all this violence, especially against innocent civilians. And they get away with it most of the times. 8D
