i left my balcony door open before i went out today and its about 35°F/2°C outside. when i got back my power supply fan was making a loud noise. I closed the door and searched online to see if i should start looking for a new computer and noticed the noise had stopped after a while.
Would the cold have been the case of the noise or should i worry about replacing the fan/powersupply

It's not impossible, the changes in temperature can cause metal to expand/contract, but I would think there's enough heat in the PC to keep the temperature stable.
What's bad about leaving windows or doors open when it's that cold though is humidity and possibly condensation, though I don't see how it would cause such a noise. Electronics don't like humidity like that though.

It could just be a coincidence. Though if it was not running at those temperatures and you turned it on then it might have just been a cold start making the fan bearings tight.
But it might be needing a new power supply or CPU fan soon, neither of which is that expensive. Just keep track of it- if you hear it again try to figure out where it is coming from.
