I'd rather choose deaf. I need my eyes so much, because most of my activities I love doing is drawing and photography.
Some of my inspiration comes from music, but I wouldn't mind not being able to hear annoying people screaming at every single thing when I want peace and quiet.

I'd rather be deaf as I am now. I think I'd be able to adjust to not being able to hear, but I don't think I'd ever be able to cope with blindness.

Im quite shocked at the poll results. I find it strange that people here would rather be deaf. Talking in sings.. cant communicate with 90% of the world, cant hear anybody or anything, cant learn many languages or lingo, no music.
I rather be blind
of course i rather be neither. but what is the point of seeing everything if you cant hear whats going on. It would be a very lonely and quiet world, it would make me mad and suicidal

Communication isnt entirely impossible. I've worked with deaf people before and they live far more normal lives in society than blind people do. You can still function.
Functioning blind, however, is impossible, at least not without full time help. You cant do anything for yourself.

this really depends on the person that is blind or deaf. you can say the same thing about deaf people. you cant just use sign language for everything and somethings in life require ears rather you like it or not. yea blind people cant drive and do other things that require sight. but that doent mean that you need full time help for everything. you dont use you eyes for everything (I know I dont.)
i guess it all depends. If you are judging being deaf/blind based on being working classes citizens then yea its prob better being deaf. but on a social level i rather be blind because not being able to communicate normally will destroy many relationships. Is being a productive citizen all that matters in life?
also the post i made above is a exaggeration. The idea of being deaf freaks me out.

I don't have any idea.
If I lost my sight, I'd hate to not be able to see nature and quality photographs ever again.
If I lost my hearing, I'd hate to be able to heat nature and quality music ever again.

Considering that I'm already practically blind, I think I'll go with that. Rather just finish off that weak sense instead of losing a perfectly working one while still having the broken sense intact.

I'm almost fully blind myself, but I appreciate what little eye sight I have. I wouldn't be able to do almost all the things I do currently without my sight :<

For me, other than driving, browsing the internet and the occasional time I cut meat, most of the time, I'm on auto-pilot and just let muscle memory take over, so I don't really use my eyes all that much. Driving is taken care of because in my area, there is a shuttle bus that picks up the elderly and handicapped and takes them to where they need to go: shopping, restaurant, etc. for little to no cost to the customer. Not being able to browse the internet will suck, until I get a program to perform text-to-speech for me on all webpages that I visit, and a speech recognition software to handle everything else on my computer. Navigating will be a little bit harder, but I could still probably access the sites that I regularly visit. And you know how good I am at cutting meat even
with my modified eyesight, so I doubt the lack of eyesight will make it any different for my safety.

I love music..
I love seeing too but I think I'd be much happier being able to understand everyone and be able to communicate properly

The way I see it is, I already know how to speak. I may be a little loud and a bit odd-sounding, but I'd be able to talk and communicate if I were deaf. I just can't imagine a dark world...

i put deaf... but technically theyve already been working on substitute eyes... and have had pretty good success so far.. as for hearing thats also being fixed by putting a small rod with electrodes in the special part of the brain to stimulate hearing with a hearing aide mechanism
