  I dunno how gifts work in steam though, if I have to type in your steam name at the moment I buy it then it'll be tricky since the sale ends in 17 hours. If it gives me some kind of code or link that I give you then I can just buy them now and no worries (someone know how it works?)

  If you buy it as a gift, it goes in your steam inventory which you can later trade or gift to someone else.
