IE keeps downloading links instead of opening them into a new tab/window

  Wasn't really sure how I could google this, and when I tried to I couldn't get any answers. Basically whenever I click on certain links, IE tries to download it instead of opening it in another tab. This happens for maybe about 40% of the links I click on. Oh, and this only happens when its a link to a picture. If I copy paste the URL I can see it fine on my browser, but if I click it, it tries to download it. Already checked with some friends and they said they don't have this problem so I was wondering if anyone could give me any information on whats causing this @_@
  
  Edit: Happens to me on chrome as well and one of my friends said they had the same problem, but not anyone else @__@.

  does it only happen on certain websites? if yes then their server isn't configured with the right mime-types.
  And is it only for one format of image? (ex: .jpg or .png or .gif)
