  Higanbana no Saku Yoru ni takes place in an unnamed school setting and is composed of numerous self-contained short stories, each told from the perspective of a student or staff member from the school. These stories feature bullying as a major overlying theme, as each story's protagonist is depicted as being either a victim of bullying or a bully themselves. Higanbana revolves around a series of urban legends caused by supernatural beings called yōkai, each of which claims ownership of a particular "mystery" and kills anyone who tries to investigate it. There are a total of seven "mysteries" at the start of the series, with numerous yōkai fighting each other in an ongoing turf war for ownership of these mysteries, which is granted to the seven yōkai who emerge victorious in the conflict. The stories' protagonists interact with at least one of the school's resident yōkai, who force the protagonists to deal with the consequences of their actions regarding bullying.

  Not much is out yet, and it's being released kind of slowly, but I still enjoy it. But that's heavily due to my fandom of Ryukishi07. Like other series in genres like this, it contains some material that some people might not want to read about. Since not much is out, the only example I can really give at this point is a teacher who sexually assaults his student whom is in her third year of school (so I guess that means 3rd grade?).

  This series is sick, disturbing, gross, wrong, sociopathic, and straight up INCREDIBLE.
  
  Worth a read if you're into horror, paranormal, suspense, etc. Caught my attention a few weeka ago and emjoyed it.

  True, I'm always set on at most one or two main protagonist though. I like things like Shi-Ki, Cradle of Monsters... I don't really count Mirai Nikki, Eden no Ori Aphorism, I am a Hero, Inugami, Zetman, Highschool of the Dead, Elfen Lied, Claymore, Franken Fran or Deadman Wonderland. Series I don't really like are things like Corpse Blood Party Covered or Zekkyou Gakkyuu. Argh, now I know that I have a hard time choosing what goes under horror category and I'm a hypocrite since I like Shi-Ki and Cradle of Monsters.

  The cast doesnt change. Like higurashi or franken fran, its a series of short unrelated events that revolved around the same setting and youkai character. The focused character just changes.
